Watched the e3 demo and I must say it looks pretty good. I'm gonna have to get used to the tilting controls but that shouldn't be a problem. The sliding against a wall looks pretty cool...it reminds me of when Snake was doing that in the Blast Furnace from MGS. For the most part, it looks pretty much like when you had to go really fast in the 360 game.

Once again, I can't say anything final until after I've played the game even though the last game was freakin awesome. And hopefully after this game, maybe they'll give Jason the boot and Ryan the thumbs up.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I can only agree with that statement if you're talking about Shadow and Riders. Any other game, even Heroes, I'll have to say something about it.

Alright, it seems like the hardest learning part of this game will be timing your jumps correctly, at least from what I saw. The person doing the demo seemed to have a little trouble at around 5:24.

Here's another thought...how in the world are they going to do the bosses? Is it going to be running and hitting like in Sonic & Knuckles Mushroom Hill Zone? That would be very interesting to see how they're going to pull that off.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

2. Some dodgy soundtrack and voice work.
That worries me a little. I mean the voice work sure, but the soundtrack? Then again, I haven't played the game for myself yet and won't be able to until this comes out February 27th. I'm crossing my fingers that this is the last time we have to hear the 4Kids voice actors.

The gameplay will take a little getting used to as well, because to me the Wii-mote is gonna feel like a steering wheel in this game.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Or because Sega blew all their budget on the so-called -more -important next gen Sonic game, that this game's music got the short end of the stick. Pity, since the other Sonic game had a great soundtrack and great vocals too. I got the His World theme stuck in my head.

And the VAs are from 4kids, so thats never gonna change...Oh how I hate 4kids.
Now I remember hearing (I think either here or another site) that after this game, Sega would have no reason to keep the 4Kids VAs. Good thing too, cause Jason Griffith can't do Sonic worth shit, although I have to admit his Shadow is a bit better.

That reminds me, is this game just Sonic or will there be any other characters from previous games like Tails and Shadow? I'd be really surprised if it was just Sonic.

They're saying "just Sonic", but they said "just Sonic" for 360 too and we all see how that turned out :P
Well it WAS "just Sonic"...plus a few other characters. At least in Sonic's story it was just Sonic for the most part.

I was speaking idiomatically.

The last Sonic game that actually had a decent soundtrack was Sonic & Knuckles.

As for this game, it looks REALLY good, and hopefully it contols well like they say. Sonic and I kinda had a falling out after Sonic Heroes...
Natch, I think the only major Sonic with a poor soundtrack was Heroes. Shadow, if you push it.

Heroes was a fanbase pandering, and 3-D Sonic has never quite recovered since.

2-D Sonic, on the other hand, has always been excellent. See Advance 3/Rush for proof.
Every Sonic game has a really good soundtrack give or take a few songs in each game. Sonic Heroes is no exception...while the game itself might've been decent, the soundtrack was great. I probably could've done without Sonic's theme.

Old Sonic: Robotnik kidnaps animals and makes them into robots. Here comes Sonic the cool 'hog to save the day.

New Sonic: After tons of waffling back and forth through numerous time periods in order to to watch cutscenes and unravel ethereal secrets, Sonic must go super-saiyan to save the world/universe from various cataclysms brought upon by omnipotent end-bosses ripped straight out of shitty, generic JRPGs. Sonic is powered by the seven emeralds of chaos and magical princess tears.
The end-boss was a bitch to beat at first, but it's not so bad anymore. Actually, the plot was awesome.

I find it even more ridiculous that the princess is a love interes for Sonic in that game, when he ALREADY has an annoying love interest, Amy.

Well can't expect them to write any decent plot for the game. Worst is alot of people eat up that kind of story and think its greatest thing on earth. At least this game has a more fantasy simplistic plot.
So it's wrong for Sonic to have a love interest in someone a little more mature and a little older? What's wrong with Elise? The Sonic Next-Gen game had an amazing plot. When was the last time that Sonic actually kept going after a girl instead of constantly running away from her? I don't trust Amy, she looked like she had a thing with Silver. C'mon, she dragged the poor guy around and then shot him down.

To be honest I find the "giant mutated monster goes horribly awry and attacks everybody at the end" storyline to be the staled out plotline. We've seen it with Chaos (which was awesome at the time), the Biolizard (who literally came out of nowhere), Liquid Metal Sonic (to the point that we don't even see the real Eggman until the end of the game), and now Solaris/Iblis/Mephilis. I don't think I'm missing anybody from the 3D era....
Black Doom, but he doesn't count. That was all Shadow. Back to your statement about the whole giant mutated monster storyline and you people won't hear this a lot out of me, but I agree. We need a little change.

Its OK once in a while, but I think a lot of people would like something different, you know? Rattle it around or put a different spin on it like the handheld games did I think. Introduce a plot twist or three? That may be why no one talks disparagingly about the handhelds at least in that sense. Otherwise it just becomes very predictable.
Oh there were plot twists in the next-gen game. You have that bastard Mephiles to thank for that. I damn near lost it at one point where

Spoiler:
He killed Sonic.

LOL...that's actually pretty good. Ugh, I remember watching that movie too. Had to relive it about half a year ago thanks to KH2.

Wow...that's it in multiplayer? Just 8 characters? I figured they would've stuck Rouge in there too and maybe Eggman.

HOLD IT!

But it's not being done by Sonic Team, non sonic team sonic games tend to be awesome. Sonic Rush, the latter half of the Sonic Advance games, Sonic R.
Rush was pretty awesome, but Advance 3 is one that I just couldn't get into. Sonic R was fun, although it takes me about an hour or so to unlock everything and beat the game completely, I still have fun with it. Music was pretty amazing too.

The first Advance was very fun. The second one was alright until I got to the part where I had to find the Chaos Emeralds to unlock the true ending. Unlike the first advance where all you had to do was find a spring, this one required you to find 7 rings in an area and complete the special stage. That task was just a pain in the ass for me. I'll go back and finish Advance 3 someday but the levels just weren't as great as the previous Advance games. I think what stopped me from beating it entirely was the fact that I didn't know how to go about collecting the emeralds. Now I just read that to get to a special stage you have to find a special spring. If that's the case, then hell yeah I'll go back and finish Advance 3. Can someone confirm this?

Damn...I remember there was a reason for the 10 chao and that was it. Well, sometime I'll give the game another chance because I'd like to complete it, just like I might give Riders another chance so I can complete it. Really, I'm being serious. Maybe if I beat Advance 3 I can have a better understanding as to why it is liked.

By the way, I didn't like what they did in Zone 2 where they used the Green Hill Zone theme. When you're on the map it isn't that bad, but when I started playing the actual zones it just didn't sound right. The one from Sonic Battle sounds better.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

as for the sonic game itself, meh. I think Sonic died after Sonic Adventure 2.
I'm tired of people saying that Sonic is dead. Sonic is not dead! After Adventure 2 he went through a little relapse. Heroes was decent, but the next two 3D games Shadow and Riders just weren't that great to me. I'd talk about the awesome Sonic Next-gen but I'd rather not start another battle. Btw Sparkster, although I quoted you this post isn't directed all at you. At least you like the Adventure series whereas others are like "Sonic 3D? Ewwwwwww! Back to my Genesis games!"

As far as his 2D adventures go, the Advance series were pretty good. Would you guys consider Rush for the DS 2D or 2.5D? Either way, Rush was a pretty good addition to the series.

For those who are thinking about getting a PSP in the near future, be sure to check out Rivals. I've only beaten Sonic's story so far but it's been a challenge. So far it's been good.

So we'll be seeing this new game for the Wii in about 2 weeks. After that, it'll be a while before we get any new 3D Sonics, probably a year or two.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

If I were a diehard fanboy then I would like EVERY Sonic game that has come out. That is not the case, as I've stated before. However, I've gotta agree that we can't really conclude anything until the game comes out. I'm worried about the story and the gameplay. I've seen how the gameplay works but I want to experience it for myself before I make any conclusions.

How ya doing, buddy?

I've learned not to trust ratings from shit like IGN and Gamespot anymore. What matters is if you play it and if you like it. They give a game a shitty rating, the game turns out to be good, at least it has from my point of view.

I plan on picking up this game at either CC or Wally World tomorrow. Trauma Center is really pissing me off (stupid Deftera!) so I'm gonna hold off on beating that game and work on this one.

Wal-Mart didn't have it, Circuit City says they're getting the shipment in Saturday. Bleh. I might try Gamestop next. Anyone get this game yet?

*shakes head* Sonic Team, if I don't hear any Crush 40 by the end of this game there will be hell to pay. You'd think they would've learned their lesson last time with the last Sonic game...the main theme sucked. You hear the Crush 40 remix of His World and they did a MUCH better job than those other guys.

If I counted it right, there's 7 levels plus the tutorial...unless when I unlock another level another question mark option comes up. Although there's 7 levels, there sure are a hell of a lot of missions to complete in those levels. There also seems to be some unlockable stuff too.

Right off the bat, hats off to Sonic Team for allowing me to change the voices to Japanese with English subtitles so I don't have to put up with 4Kids.

So far the music is so-so and the story is also so-so. The gameplay, while I'm still trying to master it, is very impressive. I'm not used to having to tilt Sonic left and right while he's running the whole time. It's a little tricky, especially the timing of the homing attacks.

I played a little multiplayer before I called it a day, and decided to go with the one called "Treasure Hunt." Basically it's almost like Sonic Shuffle in a way, except your moves are determined by what you place in a minigame.

I still have my doubts, but I've only played it for a couple of hours though so I can't really say much when I've barely touched up on it.

How ya doing, buddy?

Just wondering, how long did it take you guys to get used to the controls? Or have you even gotten used to them yet?

Edit: Well garth posted about the same time I did so whoops. Question answered.
