The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings - 20 points

I expected it to be good, but I did not expect it to be this amazing. Massive improvement on the (interesting but quite flawed) original, Witcher 2 is an amazing experience with great characters, writing, acting, combat and some good roleplaying thrown in for good measure. An engaging storyline to follow and some meaningful choices to make along the way. Not to mention CDPR are massive bros who keep updating the game with new content for free. Cannot wait for Witcher 3.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective - 25 points

An incredibly charming adventure title with a gripping plot, wonderful cast of characters, excellent dialogue and animation, a superd soundtrack and awesome pomeranians. *clink*

EDIT: using my extra 5 points on dis

Gemini Rue - 20 points

This game completely out of nowhere for me. I liked the way it looked, but I did not know what to expect. A completely wonderful old-school point & click adventure with a gripping storyline, an awesome dystopian universe I hope they make more stories in, and surprisingly good voice acting for such a small production. Essential stuff.

Minna no Rhythm Tengoku - 20 points

After the disappointing DS game, this was a wonderful return to form for the series, with more completely wonderful characters, music and mini-games. A few annoying events prevent it from being BETTER than the original, but there are some incredible bits in there. The 9th Remix is one of the highlights of the year.

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - 20 points

Did not become my favourite 3D Zelda, but it is an engaging adventure with some beautiful visuals, engaging story, marvelous setpieces, excellent motion controls and that Zelda magic that only Nintendo can do. Absolutely essential.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
