Tsukihime was pretty rad, though I haven't played through most of the other story arcs as rereading WALLOFTEXT was too offputting.

Let's not forget Phoenix Wright.........

Very much is and a fine one too. It's pretty much an interactive book, albeit with some fairly amusing item spinning and additional mic shouting.

Many people don't acknowledge it though because Visual Novel is generally an alternative term for h-games because people are embarrassed o i did not just go there :]

And if it's just awesome WALLOFTEXT games, you can't go wrong with Planescape: Torment. Fantastic narrative, great RPG to boot.
