My god, I wish Square would stop ripping off ripped off rip-offs of ripped off action movie cliches and make a majestic Role-Playing Game experience once more. FFXII looks like a step in the right direction, so hopefully XIII isn't a step back.

The logo has an air of dignity to it, and seems the exact opposite of the brash and painfully derivative CG shots here ._.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Wait, four titles? Wow, talk about overkill this soon. I could understand slowly leaking out titles, but this might be close to oversaturation.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

It's "probably there" because they get a lot more attention for the title this way and it's very much a spin-off, whether it's its own game or not. They wouldn't dare call it XIII if it was simply an unrelated title and taking place in the same world is kinda irrelevant if the stories don't connect.

Final Fantasy Tactics -> Vagrant Story -> Final Fantasy XII
All in Ivalice, different names, no underlining.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

If they ARE, then that's kinda cool, if not well at least both games have a distinctive style.
I see you didn't play it. You should. Matsuno's hand in FFXII becomes even clearer once you've played VS.

Apart from many of the item names and descriptions having references to FFT characters and deities and the A.J. Durai quote at the start of the game, Vagrant Story has the VKP (Valendia Knights of Peace) and according to FFXII, Valendia is in Ivalice (or at least near it if I understood correctly).

Discussion over when each title takes place in Ivalice history is still going on as FFT doesn't have that many clear dates. Someone talked about there being two calendars in the games, Old Valendian and New Valendian, with FFXII apparently taking place in 8th Century of the Old Valendian calendar and VS taking place in New Valendian 34.

But I haven't read the Vagrant Story Ultimania, so it might not be entirely accurate. I remembered there being a date mentioned in the Graylands Incident Investigation report at the start of the game, but seems like I remembered wrong.

Since the V Strike is highlighted like that, and the ATB cost is next to Lighting, I'd say Lighting is either the name of the (special) attack or the elemental for it (or all of her attacks). You can see tiny bolts coming out of the gun as she shoots during one of the (non FMV) battle sequences.

I originally would have agreed. The European looking setting and dungeon exploration seemed very unappealing, but I was completely swept away by the incredibly gripping and rich plot, art direction and combat system. You kept playing the dungeons and towns just to get to the next cutscene and find out what happened next.

Even I have trouble telling you apart from all the other Ace Combat fanatics, don't act shocked when someone doesn't know who GRUN-3 is.
Still, I chuckled at the thought of someone thinking you're not the type to play RPGs

I was speaking idiomatically.

Oh. The later quotes had you as GRUN-3 so I must have missed that. You're still an unrecognizable old coot. I bet if you posted nudies in your journal everyone would know you.

It's annoying how the mobile phone versions (Before Crisis, Agito XIII) get the most distinctive and interesting Nomura output while the main games get the regular ho-hum scribbles.

The title looks awfully small next to GIANT Lightning, it ends up looking really hastily photoshopped stuff.
