I had some time before classes and was in town to pick up some empty DVD+Rs, so I decided to pop in my manga store to check if they had Yubisaki Milk Tea. They had also restocked volumes 2 and 3 of Yotsuba, so I had to get those as well.

From what little peek I took, Yubisaki seems to have remained "untouched", and Tokyopop's done a good enough job with it. I'll have to read it to properly assess this, but so far so good.

Seeing this

proved both funny and sad

On one hand it's saddening that judging by the back blurb, they're presenting the series as some ultra raunchy tale of sexual deviants and horny women, when it's just about teenage sexuality and identity. Still, it's better that they do something like this, than censor the actual content in an effort to get a lower age rating.

How ya doing, buddy?

Are you sure they don't just stock it very, very little?

And props (if I could) for Yubisaki Milk Tea goodness, let me know how you like it =D

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yubisaki Milk Tea was very, very good! I actually got the idea from your journal entry. Since I was going out to spend mass amounts of money on myself that day and the selections I was looking for weren't to be found, I decided to give it a shot. Shrink-wrap and a mature rating always doubly spark my interest.
Hahaha awesome =D
I thought it would be kinda conceited of me to expect it was cause of my journal or the thread I made, so I didn't ask and assumed it was either the gender confusion or some mention of mine or all combined =P

It was shrinkwrapped? Funny, mine wasn't. It's funny because I expected it to be. I remember when Negima appeared shrinkwrapped and I thought to myself "Why would a mainstream series with 12-14 year olds need to be shrinkwrapped like that O___________o" (and no, I don't read Negima), so I was sure something as scandalous as Yubisaki would be, but no. I guess it was just the store I went to, I've no idea if it's up to the store whether they keep the shrinkwrap or not.

I'm glad you liked the first volume, it gets SO much better in the later chapters (not that I've gotten to read that far, naturally ._.) <3

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I was supposed to pick up the new volume of Yubisaki Milk Tea but instead of going directly to Fantasiapelit to buy it, I decided to turn around and walk to the other side of town to visit Good Fellows and Fennica Comics since I haven't been to either for ages.

Good Fellows, usually the most expensive of the three stores, had a window sale, and I managed to pick up both volumes of Heartbroken Angels for €4 each. Always wanted to buy them, but they're hardcover too, and have always been a tad pricy. Read the first volume on the train home and was trying to contain my laughter. Really funny stuff <3

Anyway, besides that, Good Fellows was selling all Tokyopop graphic novels for €10 (usually $9.99 books are €12 here), so I ended up buying the whole series of Peach Girl - Change of Heart. Well, almost the whole series since they didn't have vol. 2, so I picked that up from Fantasiapelit along with Yubisaki Vol. 2 (which Good Fellows didn't have yet).

All in all, not cheap, but I did save around 25-35 euro considering Heartbroken Angels was so cheap and I've always wanted to get them.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Went over to my local video stores for once today, intending to find out how much it would cost me to order the third Patlabor TV series boxset through them. Turns out it's actually not going to cost me that much since the boxes have gotten a lot cheaper everywhere, so order placed, I should be able to pick up mine in a few weeks.

The store also had an aussie Haibane Renmei box, which looked wonderful, but it cost a ridiculous €80, which is way too steep for any 13 episode series for me, as much as I adore HR ;_;

So I stopped by another video store near there and ended up buying Akira on DVD for €7.90. I've always loved the film, but like Ghost in the Shell, getting it on DVD has been a long and perilous task.

They've been selling a "special Ultimate super mega pack" version of the movie for ages, but I haven't felt like paying €32 for a box that has a 16:9 widescreen version of the movie on one disc, with japanese and english audio, and then a 4:3, dub-only version of the film on another disc =/

This "no extras" version has been going around at an equally ridiculous €19.90 in every regular store, so I'm quite pleased for getting it for under 8 euro. I love how the sticker on the wrapper enthusiastically speaks of an exclusive bonus DVD included, which is basically a second disc with simply 60 minutes of Manga Entertainment trailers =x

I was speaking idiomatically.

Not that I don't think the box I saw was ridiculously overpriced, but there's quite a lot of hickups here.

For one, AxelMusic says the item is not in stock (which isn't surprising since it's out of stock almost everywhere), and the box in DVD Pacific says 4:3, even though this was a widescreen show and that just makes my skin crawl. I forgot to check if the R4 release was widescreen, but I can't afford it yet anyway. Oh Haibane, why must you make it so difficult for me ;_;

Come to think of it, Deep Discount DVD has the same box (16:9) as axelmusic at $53.23, but I've no idea if they actually have the box in stock, I hate it when sites don't make that clear.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

It's common knowledge if Haibane Renmei is out of stock, it stays that way
