Here's my purchases from the Steam sales~

Arrived in the mail yesterday. Great fun, although I'm disappointed you no longer can see your lower body. I liked that little detail about L4D1, brought that little bit more immersion to it.

The following have been shipped and should arrive soon

And while play.com's release date has already passed, they still list it as pre-order, so I'm assuming it'll ship soon:

I just bought the Battlefield 2 Complete Collection for €5. Even if I get a few LAN games out of it, it'll be worth it considering how much fun I've had with 1942.

I've spent more time playing with someone else's painted space marines than playing the game.

As for Dawn of War 2, it's pretty different from 1 in regards to the single player campaign. You're no longer commanding an army and more moving about a single group of marines that level up. There's boss fights and everything.

Now that you have a laptop, get Steam and look into some sweet deals and indie games.

Thumbs up on bayonetta. Fantastic action game, some of the most fun I've had in videogames since Viewtiful Joe.

That's not to say movement and controls in MGS games haven't always been stiff and unwieldy.

Everyone's been saying that SH HD Collection has got a plethora of problems with it. What are your thoughts on it?
Haven't played much of it, honestly. From what little I did, I noticed that *sometimes* the frame rate will drop and make it feel like the PS2 version. (oh no, so game breaking!) It feels the same to me. I'm not playing it with the new voices, maybe one of the subsequent playthroughs I will.
The problem people have with the Silent Hill collection is, aside from bizarre framerate issues, they've messed with the aesthetics and sound for some reason.

Silent Hill HD Collection Video Game, Review HD | Video Clip | Game Trailers & Videos | GameTrailers.com

What was once red and rusty in Silent Hill 3 is now just grey and brown or just washed out and flat.

They removed a lot of the fog in both games, so Silent Hill 2 has scenes of ropes or other background objects floating in the air before they no longer "disappear" into the fog.

The new voice acting (for both games, with only SH2 allowing to also choose the original) has also split opinions.

How ya doing, buddy?

Well, in a series where even the tiny details matter, changing them is a big deal and doing shoddy work of it is as close to game breaking as any number of glitches. The problem is that now these are not the "definitive" editions of the games these HD upscales are supposed to be, and that's what people have issues with, telling others not to give money to such lazy work.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Anyone still on the fence about the Silent Hill HD collection (or convinced it's "just like the originals or better"):
Silent Hill HD Collection ported from unfinished code - Eurogamer

Quote:
Silent Hill HD Collection was ported from incomplete code, Konami has revealed.

Developer Hyjinx was forced to work with buggy code because Konami lost the final release version of the game, senior associate producer Tomm Hulett told 1up.

"We got all the source code that Konami had on file - which it turns out wasn't the final release version of the games!

"During debug we didn't just have to deal with the expected 'porting' bugs, but also had to squash some bugs that the original team obviously removed prior to release, but we'd never seen before."

He added: "I think at one point [Silent Hill 3 protagonist] Heather was blue."

Hulett blamed poor archiving for this impediment. "10 years ago, a lot of game companies assumed the games were 'done' once development finished, and that they wouldn't need to use that data ever again.

"Now it's clear that having all that data in an easy-to-manage format is important."
