So how does that work with people wetting themselves and announcing it game of the year like the last time with the CGI trailer?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
Just as a note, Europe is getting a "starter pack" this Saturday (wait, that's today), which will contain a 60GB PS3, two controllers and two games, and the idea is to sell it at the same price as a normal console before.
![]() Not a bad deal considering how much we've been getting the crotch punch on pretty much everything so far no price cut for us tho lol I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]()

I can testify Lair is indeed going to be fantastic. At least for flight sections.
I've no comment on the land battles myself. They were pretty shitty in the very early builds I played, and I didn't get to try them in the newest code. I've been pretty uncomfortable with the tilt sensor, but Lair felt like the sensor was designed specifically for it. It simply made sense. Dragon flight felt so wonderfully natural I almost pray there will be a free flight mode in the game that will let you just chill out and cruise around on your dragon, away from the overblown drama and epic of the storyline. The scale was deliciously massive in the latest code, though. ![]() What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
Stop calling Oblivion an RPG already. Just because it has swords and armor doesn't make it one.
It's interesting to see J-RPGs are largely missing from all next-gen consoles because of partly the smallish user-base for both 360 and PS3 in japan, and probably because most J-RPGs have a lineage of very old and "out-dated" mechanics everyone's trying their best to get rid of right now, it seems. If people don't want 2D games anymore, why should they want to stand in a row waiting for a turn? FELIPE NO ![]() |
Notice how the article doesn't actually list the 15 titles, since they don't know them, and neither does the general public. Hence my use of words, largely missing. Aka no one in RPG Forums is interested in buying the console just yet (since any other type of quality game seems irrelevant).
Mush, I couldn't understand half of what you were trying to say, but it sounded like you were saying PS3 doesn't have a small user base and the reason is.. that.. Final Fantasy is popular.. everywhere? I think? I was saying I haven't heard of that many JRPGs being developed right now for the PS3 (nor 360) and I can only assume it's partly due to not that many people owning the console just yet. In Japan, at least. A column at an RPG fan site saying they heard someone tell them that some magazine might have said that so and so many titles might be in development isn't quite the same thing. And you'll notice FFXI and beyond has been doing their best to step away from the JRPG traditions. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
Have they released said well-selling games on the PS3? No? Right. In development.
Let's see how the HD crowd will like them. They won't have the same audience. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Have you seen a Japanese JRPG developed for a foreign market? I sure as hell haven't.
I'm just wondering how long it'll take before they'll start developing RPGs at the rate they do for PS2. If at all. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
Evermore was done by a US team, but I admit I forgot Mystic Quest.

It's hilarious how it still won't show animated gifs.

I'm curious to see if the playable demo of Heavenly Sword will have new stuff compared to the previous playable code I've tried at work.
How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
Well I have no knowledge whether the code I played was the Gamer's Day demo since it had selectable languages (subtitles and audio) and everything
![]() I doubt this demo will however, I'm just curious if it will take place in a different chapter. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
I'm pretty certain the DEMO is new, the content isn't.
That is to say, this was the same level I played in internal code months ago, but this one let you select a multitude of different audio and menu/subtitle languages (including Finnish for both ). Obviously, the sequences were the same, but the code itself is probably newer and more stable. I'm really not surprised they're not keen on giving out any more playable material when the point is to get people to buy the game. That said, this means I need to go play the other playable code at work as that really does have more content. Also to Ultima, we got a new preview version of Lair at the office. Going to try it out next week~ What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
It's a word filter result for halol. You type it with a capital letter and voila. Go back to your old posts where you say you're anti-hal0 and you'll see it.
it's origins are a mystery.............................. Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
Big part of the charm in the game was how you moved the world which in turn moved the locoroco, and with finally tilt controls available, it'd be foolish to loose the tilt altogether. Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
I don't always agree with Edge magazine on their opinion, but they have a knack for looking at games objectively where it counts.
Much like I personally love Tenchu Kurenai, but am the first to admit it could hardly be called a great game in any possible way (cept maybe atmosphere). And giving as repetitive and flawed (though pretty) a game as Odin Sphere a perfect 10 hardly looks good on the magazine. I'm only too glad I don't follow it, then. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |

Well if we're talking decade, that's still Viewtiful Joe, sorry.

Review and preview code always comes on white BD-Rs and can only be played on debug machines. Whoever you got it off from shouldn't have given it to you, and if you stole it, I hope you get caught.
Now I wonder which of the two review codes you got ::chinstroking:: What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
I'm just stunned this boss of yours wouldn't realize you don't have one. If you've reviewed PS2/3 games before (whatever it is you review for), I assume it's only been retail/promo copies or on someone else's machine? I'm sure they'll release the promos soon enough, hopefully your boss will send one of those. FELIPE NO ![]() |

EDIT: Speaking of flexing, further reason to love my job. Forgive the shoddy pics though, I don't have the means of properly editing and cleaning them up here at the office. ![]() Fancy slip that will get smudged within a second. ![]() The cover is super shiny and will be full of finger prints. ![]() ![]() ![]() It opens to this fold out, with a press disc, review code and a kind of booklet/magazine in the middle. ![]() Back of the magazine ![]() The magazine is just a few pages a is just typical hyperbole about what an amazing achievement in entertainment the game is. But the artwork is lovely. Interestingly enough, this review code is playable on a regular PS3. I guess they want/need far more people than only the established game media here to cover the title. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
Far be it from me to defend them, but they have been doing it for years now, you know.
Just because you've never been invited to a fancy and expensive launch party for a particular title doesn't mean they haven't held them. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Heavenly Sword is even easier than God of War, so I'd hesitate to lob it in with the likes of Ninja Gaiden and DMC. If you enjoy grand spectacle, it's bound to entertain, but as a game it doesn't really do anything that hasn't been done before. Not a must buy then, but good fun, especially considering the drought of good PS3 titles.
How ya doing, buddy? ![]()

As for depth of combat, you've got to be freaking kidding me. Have you ever even played Ninja Gaiden? Heavenly Sword is the kind of autopilot spectacle gaming everyone dreams of making for mass sales. You press a button and a hundred things happen, with less control, the better. You don't even have a block button, much less jump. Every single enemy is defeated with the same button bashing, barring perhaps some of the bosses. It's made to entertain and strain you as little as possible, so that everyone gets through it and sees all it has to offer. It's worth experiencing for the story and voiceacting (which is quite good), but depth of gameplay it does not have. Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
