Great news to hear, Arcubalis.

I picked up the game yesterday myself, but haven't started it yet. Not sure when I can start, either, so I'm not sure if I can be much help on the renaming front.

But in either case, how do we want to do this? I was of the idea that once we discover what rip track goes where, we can post a renaming string, something like this:

ren "cp03.brstm.mp3" "99 I Really ADORE This Track.mp3"

...that's just an example. But really, I'd be extremely interested to find out where exactly that lovely tune plays.

In the end, there should be enough material to put together into one big batch file.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

WHEW...at long last, I think my task is complete!

On a side note, those who have been enjoying the gamerip have noticed that there are two versions of several tracks. I'll be denoting the second versions as "alternate takes" with a 900-numbering system.

Thanks!

I've just updated the post with more track names. I'll do it there from now on, and just make new posts with specific questions about the tracks.

Speaking of which...has anyone found a use for the op01 tracks? I don't recall coming across them in Tokione yet. It's been a busy week, so I haven't spent as much time with the game as I'd like.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

As much as I think I would recommend it, I'd also suggest a rental...so that the player can understand the old-school gameplay, the job system, and the wonders of getting lost in large 3-D dome cities.

If it hadn't been for the music, I'm not sure how quickly I would have found out about this game. But now playing it, I certainly don't regret it.

Additional Spam:
No new work on the track listing, but I see that Arcubalis has delivered on his promise!

Music 4 Games -- The Future of Rock n' Roll & Interactive Entertainment. Est. 1999.

Of note...

M4G: It comes as somewhat of a surprise that there has not been a soundtrack release announced for Opoona despite the amazing score. How much music was created for the title, and can we hope to see a soundtrack release in the future?

Hitoshi Sakimoto: I believe we have about 60-70 tracks for Opoona. Talking about the soundtrack, we've been considering that, but it hasn't been decided yet. If the sales of Opoona go well in North America and Europe, that would be additional incentive for releasing a soundtrack.
DO YOU HEAR THAT, PEOPLE?!? LET'S GIVE THIS TITLE SOME POSITIVE WORD-OF-MOUTH!!!

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Just to let y'all know, I haven't forsaken the renaming project. Saturday night, I went on an extended Opoona bender that lasted into Sunday morning.

But there's plenty of renaming fruit born of it. If you check the renaming post, it's a LOT bigger now.

And now I know...cp03 is the theme for the Cathedral. Makes sense.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Thanks!
And it really makes me wonder...what part - if any - do those "alternate mixes" have in the game? I have yet to encounter any of them at all.

Just by way of warning...as I have been playing Opoona, I was taking notes on my laptop as I encountered the new music. However, the power adaptor cord had decided to die on me, just like the previous two did. So, while I wait for a new one, there'll be a brief renaming hiatus (should only be a few days).

On another note, the numbering is essentially how I came across the tracks in the game. It's entirely possible that someone else may encounter them in a different order, and so once the names are settled, perhaps the order should be renegotiated. For example, I went to Orcalpin Coast and the Holy Wilds after I became a 3-star ranger, simply because I could. However, the Holy Wilds become a necessity to visit a bit later in the game, and would have also fit right before Paradiso's music. It'll be little things like that which could probably be hashed out.

How ya doing, buddy?

I'm back!!!

...but there's not a lot of progress.
Haven't had a lot of Opoona time because I was having too much fun setting up my new computer....aaaaaand there's the matter of finally playing Okami, which rocks unbelievably. Please forgive.

BUT...progress is still progress. Check the additions to the list.
There were a few changes as well. I went with the editorial decision that while the player CAN visit the Holy Wilds before Intelligent Sea, story-wise it just fits better between Creola and Paradiso. And the ambiances are labeled as well.

So, here's what's left:
cp08.brstm.mp3 - I'm guessing this would be the Dark Barrows?
end04.brstm.mp3 - Kind of a rhythm-only version of the previous
op01 00.brstm.mp3 and op01 tokione 00.brstm.mp3 - ooooooh, what are these for?!? They've been bugging me ever since I couldn't find them in Tokione!!!
opn battle03.brstm.mp3 and opn battle05.brstm.mp3 - So, which one's the final battle?
op end.thp.mp3 - Thankfully, this needs no explaining.

That's it...only seven more to go!
Anyone wanna help me push this project to the finish line?

FELIPE NO

Alllllright...

I think that's all.

The only one I cannot place with 100% certainty is the one I call "Family Reunion", so my solution is just a guess/aesthetic thing. If anyone has a better solution, please chime in!

Otherwise...grab the info, make a batch file, and go to town!!!

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Thanks!

I beat the game last night, and played around a bit with the epilogue after the credits. Is there actually a scene where Opoona and the others come across their parents?

Jam it back in, in the dark.
