There were so many fast-paced songs this week, I had to separate them with low tempo non-SotW songs so that I didn't get burned out listening to a continuous stream of quick rhythm.
Good week, though.Voted Songs 3pts - Growlanser Generations Soundtrack - Wandering Simple yet wonderfully calming flute & string melody, with a mellow piano backing. The bass that comes in adds in a nice smooth beat. Love how it ends with the piano getting its own soft solo. 2pts - Touhou Fuujinroku ~ Mountain of Faith - Fall of Fall ~ Autumnal Waterfall Very fun piece. The melody has played many times by the end, but it surprisingly doesn't get too old. This is probably due to all the little changeups throughout the piece. I love when the bright piano takes the melody from the pan flute, the fact that instrument parts react to one another, and how the song lets the melody stand alone for short breaks. 1pt - Treasures of the Deep (Game Rip) - Wreck of the Concepcion - Credits Great folk/ethnic vibe, gotta love the exotic acoustic percussion. Nice guitar "improv" break from the main melody. But I give it 3rd instead of higher because the ending seems unresolved. Non-Voted Songs Kuru Kuru Kururin (Game Rip) - Ocean Okay. Did not like samples at all, backing parts tend to be repetitive Omega Five Soundtrack - Stage 1 The glacial fortress Energetic drive, quality production, nice bass line and "improv" section, pleasantly howling synths on top of thick well-layered background. However, the soundtrack was just released and was just featured on #gamemp3s. Personally, I don't think this is obscure enough to get my vote. SEVEN RINGS IN HAND Sonic and the Secret Rings Original Sound Track - HIGH AND BROKEN Nice driving guitars and solo, enjoyable string melody, production seems a little too thick, both the koto and piano sound unpleasant as a stark contrast to the rest of the mix, is something out of tune? Sonic Advance (Game Rip) - Zone 4-1 Into, while nice at first, repeats throughout the entire song. Nice mellow lead, with drums and bass that don't get boring, song sounds very carefree. Obviously, production is not high. Not a lot of content, loops after about a minute. Street Fighter EX -Arrange Sound Trax- - Amusementive Crime Energetic rhythm, LOLWTF at the interludes, is surprisingly unable to hold my interest for long. Seems pretty repetitive, aside from the guitar solo in the middle of the song. Jam it back in, in the dark. Good morning, post-apocalyptia! |
