Is this upgrade a good idea

Hello everyone

I have a 3 year old Dell Dimension 4600 with the following specs

Pentium IV 3.4 Ghz processor (single)
1 Gig Ram
Ati Radeon Pro 9800 , 128 Meg AGP card.
250 Watt Power supply

i noticed some of the upcoming games such as bioshock wont run on my computer with the current card.

I was thinking of upgrading it to a 410 Watt Power supply (found one that is compatible with my pc model) and adding an extra 2 Gigs of Ram and

i am still actually wondering about what cards to get the Radeon X1950 Pro does have AGP 8x models which looks nice but there are several options like on newegg.com any suggestions?

do you think this will be enough performance boost to make the PC last at least for another a year or so? it doesn't have a PCI e slot unfortunately. and right now im in college and cant really afford a whole shiney new PC.

just though id ask. :-). i would imagine it would cost me about 350ish to upgrade. which is a hell of a lot cheaper than 1500 or so for a solid new PC. :-p

thanks!

edit:

What no replies? hmm how nice.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

cool yeah after research it looks like the X1950 card is the way to go. it beats the Nvidia AGP models.

You really think just an extra 1 gig of ram will suffice? interesting thought.

will look into that.

thanks for your support yeah. i mainly want to be able to play UT3 too so :-) if i can do that and play Flight simulator X (it plays but the textures look a bit muddy) and Neverwinte Nights 2 then i'd be happy along with bioshock an Crysis!

:-) ooh and making Oblivion run and look better doesnt hurt.

How ya doing, buddy?
