I'd think something like that, if the DA wants to, would charge you with manslaughter rather than murder. They'd consider mitigating circumstances, like the robbery and such but it doesn't excuse an unnecessary death. And along the lines of Quiet Place conversation, you'd have to live with the moral guilt of killing someone, especially when it could have been prevented.
