Odds are if your system can run Oblivion at all Skyrim will run fine, or probably better than Oblivion actually. From what I've heard it's generally better-coded.

If you can run Oblivion, you can run Skyrim. 5 years notwithstanding, they both had to be designed to fit within the memory constraints of the (now long-in-the-tooth) current console gen.

(If you just prefer to play sandbox RPGs with a controller, more power to you I suppose. You monster.)
