I got some neat stuff at a flea market this morning. FLEAS LOLHAHANO.

Pilotwings, F-Zero and Final Fight. Super Famicom versions. =o All I need now is an Action Replay of some sort.

F-Zero even has the same comic included in the US/PAL versions, still in English. Final Fight came with this bit of Capcom junk, with really nice art of 'upcoming games' such as Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Breath of Fire 2, Alladin and various Rockman games.

I also got Ghost House and Lemmings on Master System. Master System Lemmings still being the best home console version around. Ghost House was bought.. because.. it was a dollar. It's not a very good game, you walk around and punch bats all day. But the instruction manual is LOADED with Engrish, which was well worth the massive asking price.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Five bucks each. ='D The best part is the same guy was selling a bunch of common NES games in really crappy condition (labels torn, carts cracked and chipped) right next to these, for ten bucks each.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

What is this insanity, the use of 8-bit NES stuff everywhere, often for no reason, is outstanding. No stupid crap in standard mode like exploding blocks, though the shadows are a bit annoying. So tempted to see what's going on up in the top screen, but NO TIME. The other modes are just a nice bonus, really. Push mode rapes me, Catch mode is like some weird shooting thing but with four hundred thousand Samus clones appearing in the background. Puzzle mode, HOLY SHIT YOSHI'S COOKIE. Touch mode, despite the name, entertained me for about three seconds.

Pretty good music, too. So glad THQ's planned Tetris DS vanished. They'd already done too much damage. TOO MUCH.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I've been taking advantage of the massive Kmart sale while it's drunk. It started last week, has another two weeks to go, but the shelves are pretty much cleaned out already. Australia will probably never see a sale quite like this again.

This isn't the no charm American version that was developed by Majesco, this is the Japanese Taito one. I do hope Majesco release their version here though, so there will be two Bust a Move DS' in stores and consumers will get brain damage. The touch screen slingshot control method is TERRIBLE and will give you death. Death for all! Good thing the dpad does the job. Fantastic music! The manual is also quite possibly the most complex thing I've ever seen for such a game.

MR. DRILLER DRILLS FOR FREEDOM. I haven't even touched the DrillStone mode, which apparently got cut out of the American release for some stupid reason. It involves buying stuff from a shop and then.. dancing. Probably. Very fun game in short bursts.

This is actually a hell of a lot better than I was expecting, and I was expecting something between average and good! It'll probably be the death of my touch screen as I violently shove Pac-Man down into the depths of Hell to get a power pellet. It's a bit like Marble Madness but without the unfair vaccuum cleaners and ANGER.

Purchased only because of the insane mark down. I think. It's confusing. A bit like Sonic Riders except Kirby doesn't have to grind rails and punch cars. Oh wait he does grind rails. I don't think there's any car punching though. I'm SHRUGGING MY SHOULDERS.

Probably the best graphics I've seen pumping out of the PS2. Gigantic levels, virtually no slow down at all, no fog, bloom lighting that doesn't blind everyone at fifty feet for once, even the GRASS moves. THE GRASS! Combat is great, because you can just transform into a truck and run everyone down if you want. In fact it's just fun to fart around doing whatever, like gliding into mountains and watching the awkward rag doll physics (ON A ROBOT) do their thing. Like this!

THIS IS VERY DIFFICULT AND MADE OF NAZI. Sending two other hopeless goons in to go all out for me is pretty cool, because they'll start chucking grenades everywhere and when I show up I usually find them dead on the ground, missing their legs and stuff. Good job men!

It's like Metal Slug mixed with Wild 9 and internet. Also very difficult (but not made of Nazi), and awesome! Except for the space ship level, that has no place, get out of my office!

To demonstrate the extreme power of this sale, Brothers in Arms was $10. It's $100 at EB.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

I bought The Chronicles of Riddick on Xbog the other day, ex-rental, really banged up and stuff (I think there's snot or something on the photo copy manual to give it some colour). But hey four bucks is a pretty damn good price. The graphics are really impressive considering the frame rate is mostly rock solid. Dunno if I'm really enjoying it any more though, the first few hours were top notch. Now I'm running around with a metal bat as my only weapon to try and kill all these mech suit guys that kill me in a single hit.

But I punched someone to death and his head got jammed in the toilet somehow!

I love you, creepy little pawn shop! $3 each is crazy. I've only ever played the original Phantasy Star on Master System, so this should be pretty neat. As long as the battery still works. ;_; Story of Thor was one of those games me and my mates used to get together to co-op years ago even though it's a single player thing. Kinda like Zelda on SNES, we'd yell loudly at eachother suggestions on where to go next.

I've never even heard of the Ka-Kar-Keys-Ki game before, but it has Sage's Creations logo on the cover and they made Devilish, so I guess it'll be pretty rad!

I didn't know it got a PAL release either! The publisher must be thrilled with all twenty people that bought it. ;___;

Oh shi- Myer's clearning out all their Xbox stock.

Heard alot of mixed opinions and snorting sound effects as people laugh about this game, but I picked it up. Take THAT. Not really that far into it, but I got a real Disaster Report type feeling down in my pants at times, escaping the ruined office building and such. The trippy mind fuck bits are really great, too. Opening a door only to wind up in the middle of the desert, screen going fuzzy and being able to see your skeleton. None of it's making sense but I suppose it will eventually! I'm actually quite into this, the only annoying thing is the controls. They're CRAP. Pull the trigger to punch and you often get this random delay, and the huge dudes smack the shit out of you with no chance to get back up again.

I AM NOT ENJOYING THIS GAME AT ALL. Why do the quick draw showdowns have you up against people that can take at least twenty shots to the face with a bloody shotgun? KINDA DEFEATS THE WHOLE THING. The whole game's far too boxed up and the town's are awful. >=(

Wait this isn't an Xbox game OR IS IT? No, no it isn't. OR MAYB-no. Still dirt cheap though, and it's pretty in-depth for a golf game! The game bleeds Golden Sun. Very violent.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

More Mega Drive stuff today, but it's A SPECIAL MEGA DAY.. DRIVE.

MASTER SYSTEM CONVERTER. I'M STOKED. NOW I CAN DO EVERYTHING ON ONE SYSTEM. I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR ONE OF THESE BLOODY THINGS SINCE 1996. It's so annoying having to hook both up and get the RF switches confused, that and the convertor lets you use the MD's pause button to like, you know, pause the game. Master System never had the luxury of a pause button on its controller, you'd have to go all the way over to the system. By that time you might have died! >=(

The other stuff is just a bonus! I can't really remember much about Landstalker apart from the intro seeming to take hours. JAPANESE MOONWALKER, this calls for kawaii groin grabbing. I'm confused about Street Fighter though, using the Japanese Mega Drive logo, the cartridge is the same shape as a Japanese cart (which means it doesn't fit into a PAL unit without a convertor), yet it's apparently PAL format and the manual's english. It looks WAY too fancy to be a pirated copy!

Wow, excellent purchases right there. SOS and Flipnic are two of my favorite games on the PS2. And I really need to put more time into Gregory Horror Show. One day.

I bought stuff this week, pretty exciting I know.

Oh hey, late to the party. So late to the party the location got knocked down to make way for a Starbucks. And I'm playing it on console instead of PC, I must be some kind of swamp creature! Totally loving it so far, even if the boat bit did drag on for waaay to long. I was expecting a complete mess of a frame rate, too, but it seems pretty stable. Load times are constant, but they're usually done in a few seconds. It's also pretty fun throwing barrels at people.

What a complex game for a very popular system. I don't even have an N-Gage though. I only bought this because it was $4 and it'd look good sitting next to that copy of Sonic N. It doesn't really, but hey, maybe I'll read the manual while on the toilet one day. Quality!

Ahaha, the PAL version is pretty sloppy poo. No 60Hz mode, good job Sega. REMOVING Streets of Rage 1-3 yet keeping bloody Vectorman 1 and 2, another good job! GOOD JOBS ALL ROUND AT SEGA. But it has a cool remix of Underground Zone from the Master System's Sonic 2 hidden in there, so I can't totally hate the game.

As much as I make fun of the Final Fantasy series, I'm pretty gay for Kingdom Hearts. The PAL version only just came out the other week. It's been really great so far, even if the 'intro' did go for THREE HOURS. Also this is an excellent example of just how badly the Aussie rating system breaks box art.

Normal PAL version.

WHAT. They even had to SHRINK THE ART just so it'd fit above that monster.

Also picked this up REAL cheap, which is the best sort of cheap.

Hurray I own a Simple Series DS game, such an event. Honestly, it's quite good, the CPU isn't some superhuman killbot like other pool games, they make mistakes here. Could just be sloppy coding lololol. The music is nice, it supports eight players off a single cart. You can choose from all these freaky looking anime people if you want. Dunno why, you never see them aside from the menu screen. Stuff. It's developed by the same legends behind Clubhouse Games, too.

I have both of these, they're built into the Master System Powerbase. But I bought the cartridge version for a few bucks anyway. Because I'm a wanker. Safari Hunt > Duck Hunt. Hang On > Mach Rider. LOOKS LIKE NES IS GOIN' DOWN.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Both of these arrived in much bubble wrap today

DVDCrave got both of them in stock outta nowhere and I caved. I was planning on buying the local release of Contact when it comes out next year but eh whatever, American DS games have nice cases and instruction manuals and are a million times cheaper~. Also Touch Detective is never going to get an Aussie release anyway.

Hardly put any time into Contact so far, but Touch Detective is charming. Very light hearted and other words can be placed in this sentence to expand upon the feelings of delight. Lucasarts I'm still shaking my head at you for your stupidity to make even more shitty Star Wars games for DS rather than port over your adventure games.

So no broken music and sound effects this time? Sega did a really terrible job with the PS2 version of Sonic Mega Collection. =\ I wouldn't mind picking up Genesis collection for the three Golden Axe games and to laugh at Virtua Fighter 2 again.

I got this for free, that's less than the price of paying for it! The store I got my Wii from promised a free copy of GT Pro upon launch just for pre-ordering there with a special store card (which was free to apply for so why not.. also apparently if you spend something like eight hundred thousand dollars they'll send you a gift card worth five bucks). And well, I never got GT Pro. There's a rich, detailed history of script drama that followed. I won't type it here because that'd spoil things, please look out for the film in cinemas soon! And yesterday I got to choose a game of my choice. Mostly everything was sold out, so it was either this, Open Season, Spongebob or Need for Speed.

This is something I would have bought eventually though, coz PINBALL NEEEERD. <3 It's an updated port from the PS2/PSP one (also released in America under the name 'Pinball Hall of Fame') but with much sharper textures and improved ball physics.. because they were shit in the PS2 one. B button on the Wii Mote is the right flipper, Z on the Nunchuck is the left flipper. So yeah, you've gotta use both to play, there's no other control options. But it WORKS! Taking the PINBALL NEEEERD to the extreme, if you stand up and hold both of the controllers right, it's sorta like an actual pinball machine. A floating invisible one!

Also at a time when I really shouldn't be spending what little money I have, I've spent what little money I have.

One of the pawn shops in the area is pretty well known for selling stolen shit, and when video game related stuff pops up you've gotta be quick. Quick like Nesquick! I caught these Pokemon, the three of them combined cost roughly half of what Dead Rising is just by itself in EB. Now all I need is an Xbox 360, because that'd probably be helpful! WAITIN' ON THAT PRICE DROP MICROSOFT... (or for a stolen one to show up tee hee giggle giggle burlap sack).

All the Sega games were only $2 each so

Lost Stars is probably one of the weirdest platform games Sega's made. Dogs attacking you with the letters of 'bow wow' and so forth. "FIND THE MIRACLE BALL". Fun fact, it comes with the instruction book to Alex Kidd in Miracle World instead. I already own Sonic, but IT'S ALL PART OF THE MASTER PLAN that'll involve GFF one day! Looks like it's a different print run from my other, the instruction manual's actually a book instead of one single bit of paper you have to unfold like a secret map. Stupid cheap Sega and your maps! Plus this one states you can play it on Mega Drive if you have the SMS adaptor. I know this must be pretty thrilling information to you lot!

Casino Games is kinda shit. Kinda real shit. But I knew that in advance! There's some fun to be had in the pinball game it features, and by some, I mean none! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT ATOMIC RUNNER IS. I still don't! I tried getting it to work earlier but oooooh noooo. Gonna have to bust out the cotton buds and water. I've owned Sonic 2 for years, too, but the kawaii super hardcore Hello Kitty Japanese version. Nice to have the PAL version finally. :]

RADIO HELICOPTER 2
I had no idea the PAL version was out, let alone some poor distributor actually picked it up for a local release! $15, same as the original cost me. Radio Helicopter was easily the best Simple 2000 game I've played, which isn't saying too much, but I hope this is just as relaxing to play (come ooooon bikini rescue round two). I'll find out soon!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

HEY GUYS YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHAT I BOUGHT

HAHA YES VIDEOGAMES.

I picked through EB's deep, scary 50% off bins of games. Really, big bins. Big bins of games. First time I've EVER SEEN a copy of Guilty Gear Isuka around here. EVER. I know it's fairly crappy (why am I pressing buttons to turn around even when I'm just facing one opponent oh my), but still. Same goes for the magic rarity of Puyo Pop Fever, Atari did a shithouse job distributing that back in 2003. NOW THEY'RE MINE. Pinball nerd couldn't resist picking up those two pinball games. Ultimate Pro is pretty good, just a port of the really old PC releases (Big Race and all that).

'Pinball' on PS2 (which is actually called 'Play It Pinball', they were just too lazy to put that on the cover. It's also called 'American Arcade' in Japan, true story) is horrible. I might try and return it today, because even for $4 it was a rip. It takes like TWO MINUTES to load each table, and they're as basic as you can get so I don't understand this wonder. Also yes I rebought Beyond Good and Evil. I'll actually play it this time! =)

Wario Ware's okay. I had a lot of fun playing through the stuff, and the guy who explains the forms is THE BEST buuuuut. Buuuut. I dunno, I don't feel the urge to play through the games again like I did with previous Wario Ware's. And the bonus games you unlock are pretty bland this time.

Yeah, I grabbed the Virtual Console Marieo Cart 64 the other day too. It's a lot more brutal than I remember, the way the CPU can take hits right before the finish line yet still come up and beat you with magic Speed Racer power. The cleaned up textures and smoothed out frame rate's nice!

Also I did the absolute unthinkable and got two Phoenix Games.. games. What horrors do

contain? Not even Xolten would know. I'm almost scared to put them in the PS2, the instruction manuals are warning enough with a single page showing the buttons and nothing else.

Oh God it's worse than anyone could have ever thought. ;__; This is the absolute rock bottom of PS2 garbage. It's like those Crash Bandicoot levels where you had to run towards the screen (you know, the really annoying bits), but that's the whole game. Oh but by running, I mean a very slow walking speed as the giant rolling crushing thing makes its way towards you. It's just a wee bit bigger than the box art suggests! Throw in awesome clipping problems that let you jump through walls and porn music and I've had an excellent time so far. Fifteen minutes or so feels like three weeks.

=3

Further confirming that pawn shops deserve Disneyland's slogan more. The Master System games were a buck each, pretty much the only reason I got them. Because none of them are any good really! That's not a quality tennis racquet. The PSone games were the best part, they were two bucks each. This means they're double the power of Master System, so PSone was a 16-bit console. I love whoever decided to price these, usually their PSone games are hilariously expensive. Puzznic is loaded with Engrish and awful music. I DIDN'T KNOW THE ORIGINAL BOMBERMAN WAS ON PLAYSTATION!

You can play it with updated graphics (sort of)

Or the original fun time graphics! =D

The same joint I picked Kororinpa up at (which was the ONLY store that had it in stock anyway, must be love) were selling Neo Geo Battle Coliseum and SNK vs Capcom Chaos for ten bucks a pop, so yeeeeeah! Chaos is crap! Battle Coliseum's not crap! Those are my professional IGN style reviews!

Yeah, play Ace Combat Advance first. That one's totally awesome!

Oh man, I learned a few months back that they'd released Coliseum in Europe, but to this day I haven't seen it sold ANYWHERE. I swear it's gotta be hiding from me in store isles, MGS style. Then I could be all

!

when I spot it.
That's no good! It's been pretty common around here lately. I grabbed the last one at my local Myer (they had a huge stack of SNK vs Capcom though, probably because nobody wants anything to do with that one), but I'll keep an eye out for more cheap-ooo copies of it. =o

I swear the pawn shops on main street are an eternal source of obscure gaming mystery. The most unexpected stuff always appears! Japanese Strider, Monaco GP (I remember this being a lot better than it really is..) and "Big Dick's back in town!™"

TMNT joins the whopping list of the whole six games I've bought for GBA in its lifetime! And Theme Park is love. There are some changes here and there, but it's basically the same old rad game. The old park advisor is gone, replaced with a dude that's sooorta the same. But you can also choose others to help you instead, including a 'punk' kid and a girl that has a parrot (serious). They each have their own personality of sorts, it's a pretty nice touch. Speaking of which, the touch screen controls are good, except you have to draw a small tick on everything to confirm stuff which is mind boggling. "Do you want to select the Ghost House? DRAW A TICK, NO NOT THE BLOOD SUCKING ONE AUUUGH". Only one save slot, but that sure as hell beats a password system that only saves your cash amount oh stuff you so much SNES/Mega Drive.

Also they replaced the original introduction movie with the boy and his dog getting sucked into the TV with.. well, boring.
