[Multiplatform] Sega Rally Revo GAME OVER YEEEEEEEAAAAH

SAYGAH RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP
Sega Rally may not have contained as much big dumb fun as Daytona USA (because pretty much nothing can compete with shoving your mates into the final Sonic finger of approval carved corner and watching them spaz around in the air), but it had its fair share of fun dumb big! Sega hand picked a bunch of people from outta space to form Sega Racing Studios, just to make this game! Don't you want to celebrate their only purpose in life? DON'T YOU?! You should, because this is a quality special treat, up their with the melted delights of Outrun 2 and F-Zero GX. IT'S 100% COCOA.

EASY LEFT
REVO stands for.. revolution? Maybe.. split the 'r' away.. and it can be.. rally evolution? Replace the 'v' with 'g' and its a bill. If you buy the PAL version it doesn't even have the Revo part in the title. It's a mystery. This is pure uncut arcade goodness, impossible powerslides for all! If you want a tired OLD MAN simulator, go get DiRT! I'll be over here slamming into like six other cars on the track at the same time, not slowing down for anyone. Fences? Fuck fences! Bang! Sometimes you'll be able to take fences with you if you're a skilled enough driver, they'll stick to your bonnet before flinging off into the sunset. Sega Rally's set up so that virtually nothing will bog you down, except... the ground itself!

CAUTION!
Revo has the most amazing and NEXT-GEN GUR HUR BUR thing I've seen yet aside from Dead or Alive X-Treme 2's super computer ability to render each tit with individual physics. The tracks you leave in the mud aren't merely just exciting textures that eventually fade away like bullet hole marks in GoldenEye (I WAS SO CLOSE TO WRITING MY NAME ON THE WALL YOU MONSTERS), they actually deform the ground! It'll all dig in, leaving big sloppy marks! And they stay there! It's quite a sight watching the fresh snow or whatever get torn the hell up, or coming round on the second lap and having to deal with a disaster area instead of what was once probably dirt. This combined with the handling makes each race an adventure, can you find Carmen Sandiego in the tropical jungle?



OVER JUMP!
The graphics are very.. arcade-ish? It really does remind me of a mid-90's racer, there's no backing away from bright colours here. It's very impressive at times, there's one point where you fling yourself over a jump in one of the alpine stages and get slapped in the face with all these little cottages and stuff resting away below in an impossible field.. of DREAMS. Ah yes, Sega Rally Revo is certainly my favorite baseball game. They've even got the classic 'pointless awesome shit' like helicopters that fly dangerously close to the ground. Once these jet planes screamed past and filled the sky with coloured smoke, it was pretty nice. I felt important. Don't worry society, I will win this race for you today. Oh, and the best part is the frame rate never has a heart attack.

LONG MEDIUM RIGHT
There's a fair bit of junk to do in the game, since this didn't start off as an actual arcade title there's no fear of a Saturn style port. "Did you like Manx TT SuperBike?" "Well kinda.. I guess" "Here is it on SATURN" "That's nice" "ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS TWO TRACKS GAME LASTS FIVE MINUTES" ".. You're hurting me!" The championships are amazingly split up into difficulties, and there's some kind of custom car championship where everyone drives broken shitboxes around the joint. Oh man the CPU gets brutal.

CHECKPOINT!
The weakest part of the game is easily the music, it's awful. Gone is the charm of the jazzy synth spew with someone saying a muffled line every now and then. Here comes the generic-o rock! I quickly reached for my Sega Rally Saturn disc and threw that into the 360 but it had a cry and couldn't detect the music tracks. Thank you internet! Sound's alright though, engines sound like engines, running into stuff sounds like bad driving, the announcer is classic cheese. Mmmmmm, jarlsberg. Also I have no idea if the hand crank powered PSP version is actually good or not. MAAAAYBE.

You seriously feel the track under your tires.

Yeah seriously! This game has the best use of rumble I've experienced in ages. Hurling yourself round onto a tarmac road after battling with the mud is like a weird little intermission. Phew, safe, OOOH NO HERE COMES MORE MUD!
