Kiki Kai Wor..wait, Heavenly Guardian? (It's pretty much a new Pocky & Rocky)
![]()
These are some of the screens that were originally released when they announced it last year, expect some sprite changes and shit I guess. It looks like BEST GAME. ![]() ![]() ![]() The same publisher's also announced an American release of [insert the really long Japanese name here], which turns into The Monkey King. A sequel to Cloud Master, which was a household name in the eighti-oh. ![]() This one's Wii exclusive. ![]() ![]() Monkey King's listed for November 1st, Kiki Kai's late December (for PS2).. oh wait that's in the lump of text I quoted anyway. They're both thirty bucks. You should support a game starring a GFF member, okay! UFO seem to be pretty dodgy with their release dates though, so who knows. Also no word on PAL releases, buuuuut 505 Games doooo tend to pick up a lot of the same games UFO publish. So basically, late 2009 here we come! Jam it back in, in the dark.

Because beeccaaauuse! There's an enemy who seems to cut the poor girls clothes off, and that's the work of that blasted internet right there!
![]() How ya doing, buddy? |
Yeah, Square bought like ninety percent of their shares back in 2005. Taito kinda dropped off the planet shortly after, but now they're on a huge retro revival kick, probably fueled by the bazillions of dollars Cooking Mama has made them~
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Screens of the altered beast version ahoy!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() .. Really low quality ones, but hey! I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
![]() New name, new box. =o COPY PASTE TEXT MONSTER.
How ya doing, buddy?

Hahaha yeah, maybe UFO's box art guy is an ex-Capcom employee.

They'll probably change it so you play as the skeleton. "Everyone loves skeletons!" "Sir.. well, I.. I don't know if people are going to be too happy about this change!" "But EVERYONE loves skeletons" "Yes sir ;__;" "NO SAYING SMILEYS OUT LOUD IN MY OFFICE"

HELLO FRIENDS. IT IS I, BUMPS MCKENZIE AGAIN.
![]() So this is out in the Americanada now, ultra budget priced at $15 on PS2 and $20 for the Wii version ($5 extra for wiggle waggle jiggle jaggle hippin' and a hoppin'). There's some still screen art for the introduction story bit which is in Engrish, then AWAY YOU GO. It's really not too bad, nowhere near the level of Pocky & Rocky, but eh... ultra budget price! The levels are pretty huge and often allow you to explore miles away for secrets and stuff. Move around, shoot the bazillions of smiling enemies (with your magic snowballs). There are certain areas in each level that lock you onto one screen as hundreds of goons fly in from the side, you can rack up some pretty rad combos. Boss battles have been pretty creative so far. Also brutal. This game fucks you up something shocking. Graphics are, well... crappy. Very, veerrry basic 2D, not up to what those initial screens looked like at all. Some of the later environments are nice though. Music's cheerful and vomits rainbows at you. Fun fact; the game has no save function. Start from the beginning every time. D: 505's picked it up for a PAL release in July, and it comes complete with a much nicer box art. ![]() But they plan on charging full price, so fuck it. I'll stick with my ugly US Wii box art. Oh yeah, if you have a PS2 and a Wii (who doesn't have a PS2? MOLE PEOPLE?) get the PS2 one. Wii version merely adds an option of horrific motion controls. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

The whole thing has changed. There are some familiar enemies, but the game is now about Sayuki the ice princess or whoever she is falling in love with a school boy in town. But she's too shy to tell him. Then one day Sakyuki finds out he's gotten sick (via GOSSIP), and goes on a quest to find the cure. MAYBE INSTANT LOVERS WHEN SHE SAVES THE DAY. There's no mention of WHY everything is trying to kill you along the way.

To be fair, it's not exactly ever going to burn up the sales charts (or even be stocked by most stores), and the publishers are pretty aware of that.At least, I hope so. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
