I'd be excited in the pants region about WiiSports being tossed in there, but I don't think it includes the plane game anymore, so I will shrug my shoulders and post this post while waiting for official news. About Dreamcast relaunching in 2009 by that UK2 guy that used to post here. He claimed Bad Boys 2 was the greatest game ever. What a legend.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Japanese Virtual Console prices revealed (for the Nintendo consoles).

non-ImageShack'd image for whatever source.

So roughly, NES games = $5. SNES = $7. N64 = $10.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

MSX console support has been added to the Virtual Console?

Quote:
1:34 a.m. EST: [update 6] Iwata gives prices for virtual console games! 500 yen for NES games, 800 yen for SNES games, 1000 [typo corrected] yen for N64 games. Pay by credit card of Wii points card. Wii will play three MSX games.
Live updates of Japanese thingy here. I've always wanted to check out the obscure junk the MSX had. Plus the upgraded Metal Gear ports for laffo.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Wii goes on sale November 19. "The worldwide debut of the Wii system happens right here in the Americas -- the same place where we debuted Nintendo DS. On November 19, it will be available at more than 25,000 points of distribution across the Americas. And with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $249.99. One price. One configuration. One color." Which is, for the record, white.
No black, how racist.

The system being region free is good, leaving the option for third parties to lock their games anyway isn't. Xbox 360's also region free, yet there's like two games that'll work on any system worldwide.

DS being region free combined with it actually being popular here has slowly forced publishers to rethink their prices. DS Games are $70, nearly double the price of what America pays, and it's not like our GST adds an insane amount. Hell, we're getting American games, they just slap an Aussie rating sticker over the 'E for Everyone' and try and hide the 'For sale in America, Cananananada and Mexico' part on the back with another sticker. But more and more local websites and independent game stores are stocking imported games for a fraction of the price. Why spend $70? We're now finally starting to see more $50 DS games come out, and while it's still pretty expensive, it's a start.

I fully expect the likes of EA and UbiSoft to region lock their games, and continue with sloppy PAL conversions with no 60Hz option, featuring massive black borders and added screen tearing due to the shit refresh rate.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

It is really shitty of them not to include a second controller, especially with WiiSports forced in there. They obviously included it because it's one of the best ways to show off the systems controller out of all the launch titles (and it probably wouldn't sell that well by itself), but it does seem like a game where most of the enjoyment comes from having two players. Bowling isn't much/any fun by yourself! That and the controllers cost more than a game will.

$5 is expensive for a NES game, especially to us space age futuristic internet folk who have been getting them for free. That and you can go buy a stack of games for around that same price at a garage sale. They don't care though, they somehow sold millions of those GBA NES Classics for $20 a pop. $20 for an crap incomplete port of Donkey Kong, mmm tasty. SNES, I dunno. This depends on what games actually make it onto the service. I can imagine a few wanting the rare-ish games (Chrono Trigger?) sitting on their TV screen (that haven't gone and modded an Xbox). Or for PAL markets, the games that never got released in the first place (Mario RPG, Kirby's Dreamland 3, every single FF game).

The N64 price is okay simply for the fact that the Nintendo 64 controllers were the shittiest things EVER MADE IN THE HISTORY OF GAMING. Finding a controller that isn't emulating a prostitute is very rare indeed. Wait that doesn't make it okay at all. But I believe Nintendo mentioned back at E3 the N64 games would see slight upgrades ala the Zelda OoT bonus disc. I dunno. I'd hit Pilotwings 64 regardless. You're paying for the convenience of having all these games from multiple machines on a single system. You're also paying for lunch. For Nintendo. It'll be lobster stuffed with steak.

I'm really interested to find out how much PC Engine/MSX games will cost, neither console was released here and there are a lot of games that look pretty awesome on them. And while the launch price hasn't been announced here yet, I'm still ecstatic about getting a free game (on top of the 'free' WiiSports) with my pre-order. That's $100 saved. EXCITE TRUCK. Everyone move to Australia plz.

Yeah, Metal Sphere added it to the first post, but for the hell of it, confirmed games for the American launch;

Quote:
Nintendo
Excite Truck
The Legend of Zelda: Twlight Princess
Wii Sports (bundled with console)

Activision
Call of Duty 3
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Rapala Tournament Fishing
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
World Series of Poker

Atlus
Trauma Center: Second Opinion

EA
Madden NFL 07
Need for Speed: Carbon

Konami
Elebits

Sega
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz

Ubisoft
Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII
Far Cry: Vengeance
GT Pro Series
Monster 4x4 World Circuit
Open Season
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Red Steel
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent
thingy.

Twenty cents say System 3's Pinball Classics and Leaderboard Golf make the Euro launch~

Pretty detailed explaination of what's on the Wii's dashboard here.

The Wii Channel includes a message board that's basically email, you can attach images and all that.

And it seems games like Animal Crossing will send notes to your message board. I BET NOOK'S ADVERTISING A STUPID PURPLE CHAIR FOR A MILLION BELLS.

Aussie launch details.

$400 AUD. WiiSports included. December 7th. That's quite a bit of fucking with the exchange rate. But I suppose since Microsoft and Sony have both totally ignored it, so Nintendo's gotta join in too. Gotta be part of the COOL CLUB. No mention of Excite Truck even making it out before the year ends.. *bitter tears*

Ooh, Europe gets WiiPlay as a launch title (the game comes with a Wii controller packed in). WiiPlay includes Duck Hunt, Table Tennis, some.. weird Kuru Kuru Kururin style game where you move your custom characters around a maze and other stuff.

How ya doing, buddy?
