I think the games must have sold pretty well to appear on so many systems and team up with the mighty fat heads, Billy and Jimmy from Double Dragon. The Sega Master System even got a port of Battlemaniacs in 1996! It's just that Rare let it die like so many of their other awesome games to focus on annoying 3D platformers that feature more item collecting than Katamari.

But yeah, Battletoads is one of those games I love yet hate so much. That bloody speeder bike level, it was bad enough in single player, co-op was a nightmare. Why couldn't they just headbutt them down? =(

Oh yeah, Super Battletoads. That game was pretty Mortal Kombat-ish, being able to split enemies in half or knock their heads right off. Good stuff!
