BOX ART TIME

Mostly Japanalan stuff this time.

But PAL joins in on the fun with another extremely ugly Tom Clancy cover and fruit that's clearly already fallen.

And whoa American games everyone's gonna buy watch out.

Haha, some New Zealand news show 'Nightline' did a segment on Wii, getting three people to play it, a kid, some late 20's guy and a 78 year old woman who'd never played a video game before. You'd think they'd get her to play something simple like Wii Sports but nup, Zelda. None of them really seemed that excited about the system in the end. =)

Not officially announced, but 99.999912% of the way there!

The ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board) has already helped us confirm multiple titles expected to hit Wii early next year, and we've received an updated list just this morning.

As it stood, the following potential 2007 VC games we hit on were as follows:

* Duck Hunt (E for Everyone)
* Hogan's Alley (E for Everyone)
* Kid Icarus (E for Everyone)
* Kirby's Adventure (E for Everyone)
* Pilot Wings (E for Everyone)
* Pro Wrestling (E for Everyone)
* Punch-Out (E for Everyone)
* Wild Gunman (E for Everyone)

New to the list, however, is a slightly more diverse catalog of games:

* Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Super NES; rated E for Everyone)
* Kirby's Super Star (Super NES; rated E for Everyone)
* Mario Kart 64 (Nintendo 64; rated E for Everyone)
* Starfox 64 (Nintendo 64; rated E for Everyone)
* Super Metroid (Super NES; rated E for Everyone)
* Kirby's Dream Land 3 (Super NES; rated E for Everyone)
* The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64; rated E for Everyone)
* Excitebike (NES; rated E for Everyone)
* Ice Climber (NES; rated E for Everyone)
* Dr. Mario (NES; rated E for Everyone)
* Mario Brothers (NES; rated E for Everyone)
* Ice Hockey (NES; rated E for Everyone)
* Soccer (NES; rated E for Everyone)

'Regular 2 years'? Aren't warranties (especially in America) like 30 days or some bullshit? But yeah, that's an extended warranty of sorts.

I dunno if anyone anywhere would actually want to play the incomplete NES version of Donkey Kong on anything anytime. It's like going to the cinema and having the place burn down before you can see the end of the movie. Except there's more fire involved. And more hammers. FIRE HAMMERS? No, this is not the case!

Oh shi the first TurboGrafx games are up? So cool. That was the only reason I was going to bother with the Virtual Console, but it doesn't seem like Australia's going to get that section at all (because the console was never released here, obviously that means we should never be allowed to play the games, ever). ;_;

The Wii launch in the US saw many thousands of happy Nintendites walk home as proud new owners of their consoles, but were a smidge disappointed when they found their free copy of Wii Sports tucked inside of a paper sleeve.

The debate has been brewing here in the UK over whether or not Wii Sports will be bundled in the same manner. Rumours are that downloadbale, printable cover artwork will be available, so that miffed-off fans can keep their game safe inside a hard-backed case.

We wanted the final answer for you guys, and have asked Nintendo's primary PR contact how the game will be supplied with the console. Their reply was as follows:

''In the US [Wii Sports] comes in a cardboard sleeve - in the UK a hard case.''

Niiiiine days to go 'til launch here. Apparently the Myer store I pre-ordered from has 26 pre-orders so far, and is getting 48 units in total. This is actually pretty huge for this craptastic town. PlayStation 2 launch day, I was able to walk in at 9AM and pick one up without a pre-order. I was also the only customer in the shop at the time.

I can also choose from GT Pro or Monster 4X4 as a free pre-order game. WHICH ONE SHOULD I GET GUYS? THEY BOTH SOUND LIKE FUCKING BRILLIANT GAMES! I'll pick up Zelda - the Superman 64 of the Wii game library, Wii Play (it comes with a Wii controller and only costs $10 more than a Wii controller by itself anyway so why not) and Super Munchy Balls too.

No component cables, Excite Truck or Trauma Center for the Aussie launch is bullshit though.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Sure looks like it! Just like real cows!

The whole tech demo-ish package looks like it could be a pretty fun game to waste a few minutes on every now and then. There's cow/yarn/Playschool racing, air hockey, table tennis, target shooting, pool, fishing and some some Atari 2600 type Tank game;

It's been confirmed somewhere or other to hit America late January. =o

EB Games have it listed now, though.

Quote:
Virtual Console games for countries in PAL regions are now available, though the Wii itself will not be launched until next week. Interestingly, games are being released by country rather than region.

The TurboGrafx system never made it to Australia and New Zealand, and those countries will again not receive TurboGrafx games. Their initial Virtual Console selection is limited to three NES choices, Donkey Kong, Mario Bros., and Wario's Woods.

The European countries of Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Spain get those three NES games as well as three TurboGrafx games, Bomberman '93, Bonk's Adventure, and Super Star Soldier.

Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Norway, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, and Switzerland are a little luckier with an additional three games available. They can also purchase The Legend of Zelda for NES, and Dungeon Explorer and Victory Run for TurboGrafx.

More games and countries may be added before the Australian and European launches, which occur on December 7th and 8th, respectively.
Absolutely fucking pathetic.

Got my Wii this morning. :]

I knew it was small but holy shit.

Wii Play in all its glory. I'll do a proper write up of this soon, it's pretty fun for what was basically a $4.00 game!

I've also turned into a consumer whore and gotten a VC Points Card. Haven't downloaded anything though. The Aussie line-up is a tad better than IGN had reported. No TG-16 (FUCK YOU NINTENDO), but Donkey Kong Country and F-Zero are up on it!

The system itself spazzed out in a massive way like half an hour after I set it up. Freaked me out. The controller stopped responding, it wouldn't even sync up. The controller that came with Wii Play wouldn't respond either. Then the console made noises and wouldn't turn off, so I unplugged it and let it sit there for a bit. Now it's fine!

No free copy of GT Pro, they had none in stock. Apparently they'll mail me a copy when they get it. I bet I'll have to yell at them. I think there's massive problems with supplies of third party games in general, I snagged the ONLY copy of Monkey Ball at Myer. Saved a PISS LOAD (that's right, an entire load of piss!) of money on the games and paid half price for a second nunchuck.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Let's seeee, there was F-Zero, DKC, the original Donkey Kong (why would anyone buy this ;_; ), Wario's Woods, Mario Bros., Zelda, Pinball, Soccer, Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Sonic 1, Ecco the Dolphin, Super Mario 64.. that's all I can remember. I don't think there was much more anyway.

I don't know my exact Freeloader version number because I can't be arsed to get the GC back out and plug it in (it's a very early one from 2002), but it doesn't work on my Wii. It just sits there trying to read the disc forever like a goon. ;__;

On a less depressing note, I downloaded DKC and F-Zero today, both run in full screen. No huge SNES PAL borders. And the classic controller is fucking nice!
