The budget gaming terror continues!

Wow it's only taken three years to find a pre-owned copy of Gotcha Force! It's pretty fun, like Virtual On but with bright primary colours stabbing you in the eyes everywhere you go. The slick anime intro and the fact that the game is about collecting pocket sized robots sort of suggests Capcom were hoping it'd be a success so they could pump out a crappy TV series and toys. Whoops!

X-Treme Express is some kind of train game, or so the rumour goes. But it's not a sim, because it's X-TREME! You race other trains, switching tracks, trying to derail your opponents. For five bucks, why not. It's pretty funny when you get derailed, you sort of just slide around in the dirt, mashing L1 and R1 to get back on the rails. Just like a real train. Plus you can race as

World Super Police is kinda liiiiike Chase HQ. You zip along the highways, shooting at other cars, traffic always manages to drift in your way. The graphics are really shocking, almost to the point where it's unplayable.. and this is coming from me. ;__; Buildings pop up out of nowhere, other cars on the road are like rectangles and the frame rate goes all Perfect Dark when you start shooting. But it has an overdramatic storyline, which makes it worthwhile (no). Midas were nice enough to leave the Japanese voice option in, because the English dub is done by ONE PERSON. ONE PERSON DOES THE VOICE OF EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER, MALE OR FEMALE. ONE!

Bubble Bobble Double Shot is alright, they finally went back to the old level design, and the colour coded thing isn't too much of a hassle. I like that there's cameos of other Taito games hidden in it like Exit~. Also Puyo Pop DS, found that real bloody cheap brand new, which is nice considering I didn't even know it got a local release.

Picked up VICTORY BOXING (VICTORY!) and Rayman at a garage sale. Kinda forgotten just how tough the original Rayman is! And well, Spider-Man 2 for N-Gage. That cost $970. I got it on sale at a dress shop.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I want Rhythm Tengoku. Nintendo won't localize it though oh no, wouldn't be seen dead supporting their 'third pillar' anymore! "You guys want Mother 3 too, well el oh el have a Starfox Command instead! AH HAW HAW HAW"

:Megaton:

Big W (protip: Walmart) were having a clearance sale, I picked AC0 out of the stinky bargain bin to scan it expecting a ten cent price reduction but nope. It came up at $14. $14. IT'S USUALLY $90. Puzzle Bobble VS was $2.75, worth it just for the fact that they kept the Puzzle Bobble name instead of Bust-a-Move. (No not really).

Marble Madness/Klax and Paperboy/Rampage GBA cart'zzz~, ultra cheap too. For a good reason though, THREE LEVELS. Paperboy also has stupid cool glitches that let you ride right off the side of the screen.

Three AWESOME Master System games. KLAX. KLAX HAS MUSIC. Unheard of. Also Dynamite Dux, I've always wanted an actual copy of that instead of playing it via emulator all the time. Not the saaame. And finally, I decided to go on a quest for PSP games by Taito recently. Because I'm a Taito fanboy, what a shock! And I've had extremely good luck, found Exit, Bubble Bobble and Space Invaders in the one place second hand, real cheap. But the cases are badly scratched up. ;_; And Rainbow Islands was another victim of the Big W sale, so haaay. All up I paid as much as I would just for Bubble Bobble brand new at EB.

All that's left is Taito Legends Power-Up, Bust-a-Move Ghost and Exit 2. Not including Japanese exclusive games, because that's too much of a pain in the arse. I don't even have a PSP. But one day! Sony are stupid, it's still $400 ($330 US). =\ DROP THE PRICE ALREADY HOLY CRAP.

And that's me done with bargain hunting for a while~

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Just bought Super James Pond 2 (Super Famicom) for my collection.
Wow, that's a really nice cover. Sure as hell beats the Euro original (which I can't even seem to find on the net but it was really ugly compared to the Mega Drive one)

Three more Taito games. Now I just need Exit 2 and my Euro Taito PSP/DS collection will be set (until they release more games oh no). I'm avoiding Monster Bomber on DS because it looks like absolute shit. Also Space Invaders Revolution because I once owned it and it destroyed me ever so slightly. I think Bust-a-Move Ghost has been around the block a few thousand times. I peeled off the pawn shop sticker to find a Games Wizards pre-owned price sticker under it. Under THAT was an EB price sticker. What a whore.

HEY QWARKY

Ha ha! Picked up the first God of Waaarhasneverbeensomuchfuncannonfodder in a pawn shop for $16 (it has an EB sticker under it for $30, take that, box!) but then I went into EB and they have an actual, real, proper sale going on for once! None of this 'Big sale! Trade twenty PS2 games in and get $5 off anything in store! Hurry!' Lots of new release games for half price, I will consume the sequel while I'm here!

I went to play the first one today and discovered I don't have enough room on my memory card. TO THE STORE AGAIN TOMORROW. >=( But what I did play of it was fun! Especially killing the idiots running around trying to escape the giant flying things on the boat. Yes that's it, run right in front of my swingy weapon of doom. GOOD PLAN!

Also that GoW 2 box actually had even more stickers on it before I took the photo. It's basically impossible to find out what you're buying at EB unless you look at the spine of the box.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Daxter doesn't count 'cause it was free, but I purchased Pinball Hall of Fame and SEGA Genesis Collection (both for the PSP) just last week, and I've been playing Phantasy Star IV ever since XD
Those are both excellent games. =) You'll be able to experience the pure joy of having Xolten the fortune teller predict everything wrong in Pinball Hall of Fame!

I spent almost an entire lunch break picking through the rubbish bin at an EB, the half the marked price of already heaviliy reduced 'nobody wants this shit' bin.

I was pretty surprised to find Darwin, I didn't know it actually existed! I haven't seen any of Essential Games other stuff around. It's a decent Pikmin clone. Should be getting an American release (later this month?) under the name Adventures of Darwin.

MaXXed Out Racing (ugh) = Simple 2000 ULTIMATE Vol. 3. One of the funniest games I've played in ages thanks to the English dub and the fact that you can place Hello Kitty stickers on your pretty pink car. MAXXED OUT!

Splatter Master = Simple 2000 Vol. 64. Haven't played this one yet, but videos on the Tube of You give the impression that it's a blood spewing side scrolling beat 'em up. ..With chainsaws! Should be amusing!

I also found a copy of NiGHTS (not at EB).

To replace the dodgy copy I bought like five years ago that has an army of scratches on the disc that make the levels spaz out at random.

Recently bought yet another PS2 and NDS versions of Robocod for my collection, the differences betwen these and the two i already have is that the PS2 release is now distributed by "System 3"... wich is strange since "Play It" is System 3's budget label... maybe they decided to abandon Play It and use only System 3 from now on?
The NDS release is having a "new" boxartwork, it used to have a "snow/ice" theme but now it has the same artwork as the PS2 version... i guess it is more season neutral.

Here is a pic showing the realeases side by side:

Yeah, they started dropping the Play It name late last year when the likes of Super Fruit Fall and Pinball Hall of Fame got re-released. Your James Pond collection still brings such a smile to my face. Did you hear Codemasters is planning to release the DS version in America? There's another one for you!

If only they'd kept it around, it could have made a tiny bit of sense when it was an upcoming title for the Virtual Console! There's a store in my area that still has a (full priced) crushed up copy of The Jungle Book for Game Boy sitting around, it's like a zombie that shuffles around the different shelves. Last I saw it was sitting next to Fuzion Frenzy 2. Where will it be next? A mystery!

So I discovered some magic at EB, they give a shitload of trade in value for retarded games. And not like '50 Cent Bulletproof' retarded. I noticed this the other day, when I saw a few Phoenix Games titles selling for $60 pre-owned. Basically every store EXCEPT EB stock these games, and their RRP is TEN DOLLARS. So EB were charging more for these lumps of death than a pre-owned copy of say, Gears of War. Eyebrow and penis raised, I went in today, swinging about my copies of PS2 GOTY London Cab Challenge and White Van Racer, which were bought for joke reviews/YouTube joke footage/joke jokes. Also a third Phoenix Games.. game that I bought earlier this year for mystery and suspense.

I got twenty five bucks each. I only paid $30 for the three 'games' in total.

LOOKS LIKE I WON, KNOB STORE.

Or maybe not, I used this free exciting Monopoly money to get Metal Slug (I like how the PS2 version is $40 and the Wii version is $80 oh wait) and KoF XI.

Metal Slug's kinda dodgy. There's no 60Hz, and it's got a bloody MASSIVE border filling up nearly half the fucking screen. KoF XI's neat though, despite getting names wrong on the character selection screen.

Picked up the less faggy Pokemon of the two (haha take that) with my rewards point.. voucher... thing at Game. So it was only half-price~
This is the first Pokemon game I'll have played since the original! NOT COUNTING POKEMON CHANNEL AND SNAP THEY ARE MY FRIENDS. LOOK SOME SEGA GAMES. So basically next time I get money I'm going to buy a wheelbarrow full of Phoenix Games' shit and trade them in towards a speed boat.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Oh yes they finally came out here. ='D Now just waiting on a Global Defence Force date. We'll go to the movies. Kill some bugs. I had to order these online because whoever the local distributor is, they don't do a very good job! I may have already destroyed Zombie Virus. ;_; Like five minutes into playing it I accidently yanked my controller trying to get comfy, causing the PS2 to fall off the shelf and dangle about. Now there's a huge circle scratch on the disc, but.. it seems to still play! STUPIDITY VIRUS. Oddly, Zombie Hunters brings up a 505 GameStreet logo before the title screen. I guess once D3 Europe decided to start releasing these they pushed 505 off a cliff but didn't have time to remove it from the game. That and the title screen calls it "Zombie Zone: The Other Side". BUT THE BOX SAYS ZOMBIE HUNTERS.

I can't wait to review these!

I didn't know there was a version of that cartridge that also included World Class Track Meet! I didn't know there was even a game called World Class Track Meet! WHAT'S GOING ON WITH MARIO'S RIGHT HAND? ;__; It almost looks like he had it chopped off and replaced with eggs. Duck eggs.

Hey the American Viewtiful Joe cover is cool. It's bloody PINK here. THE WHOLE CASE IS PINK. SO MUCH PINK.

Ultra Puzzle Bobble was only $14 and came with a calendar and a bunch of post cards. The calendar's for 2005, but it's still a nice addition which I wasn't expecting.
Taito themed? Let me know if you ever want to sell them or something. =3 I used up my years and years worth of points you get at Game whenever you buy shit to basically get this lot for about five dollars. But if you factor in that Game are usually more expensive than say, Big W, and add in a Velociraptor, well then.

505's stuff continues to come out here without any warning! Whoever distributes them (I CANNOT FIND THIS OUT, NOT EVEN INTERNET) keeps hurling it all out cheaper and cheaper too, it's (an) outstanding (mystery).

Tengai is Sengoku Blade.

Tits aren't big enough, try again, developer!

Gigawing is destroying me, I'm not used to shooters with so many bloody things on screen at once. So I'm dodging eighty billion bullets AND trying to collect eighty billion coins at the same time? The enemies seem to bleed coins. Awesome! And Worms is great, the last portable version of Worms I played was the original on Game Boy, so this is like wow futuristic. Speaking of the future and its robotic maids.

Picked up these for a buck each, Future Racer.. um... it has really nice music! It's your typical shit generic clone racer thing, except the objective of each race is to keep hold of a ball for the longest. Yeah. Lookin' forward to the future here, for sure. It's very badly translated, some words even blend into eachother. It's a pity, I'd really like to know what stupid anime girly with giant purple mutant rat on her shoulder is trying to say when she's staring blankly at a FUTURE RACER vehicle. And Mickey's Wild Adventure is just a slightly upgraded version of Mickey Mania. Disney 2D platformers. HEART.

PSP Slim would be in here somewhere if the silver version was out yet.

Sure, why not. Flea markets/car boot sales/third thing here are awesome piles of mystery! Especially when you get the parents that are selling their kids stuff to fuel their maple syrup addiction. So how have you guys been goin' with it's boxing day wow we'd better clear shit/it's January wow we'd better clear shit from last year sales? =o I really shouldn't be buying games at the moment considering I've got a $3000 dental fun time ahead next week, but.. but so cheap!

Got Disgaea 2 brand new today for $9, reduced from $80. It's still sitting in the shrink wrap, in a state of shock. Pity it was the only copy they had! Man it even comes with a music CD, that never happens here. Unless it's called Killer Instinct. KILLAH CUTS.

RAB reminded me that a new Sega Rally existed, which I'd somehow forgotten about (probably because I don't pay much attention to anything Sega related anymore ;_; ) and that it was 60% off at JB (oh yeah, we have EB's and JB's, feel the sting!) But it's surprisingly AMAZING. Total arcade bliss, Sega Racing Studios' has done a great job! I totally put the music from the Saturn Sega Rally on the 360's hard drive and race to it. Also Daytona USA's music, just to confuse myself. BLUE BLUE SKIIIIIIIES.

While I was there I noticed Eternal Sonata was also 60% off and I was like fuck you sales. It'll probably sit around for ages before I get around to it, but at least I can sleep at night knowing the dust has somewhere to go. Also EB's reduced basically every pre-owned PS2/GC/Xbox/something game to $15, so that sounded like a good price for nutmeg. And for Eternal Darkness. Yeah, I've never played it. =o The case is disgusting, open it up and there's like all this dried yogurt everywhere. .. I hope it's yogurt. That's me done for 2008 see you next year!
