Noted, and I'll so be there! I'd prefer a Saturday, though, mainly because I think traffic on Friday afternoon will be murder!
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
So there's not going to be a concert on Friday? Thursday is extremely inconvenient for me (and I'm sure for a lot of other people as well...) :-(
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I'm still hoping there'll be a second performance on Friday, either in Koeln or somewhere else in the area. Thursday just isn't a good day for me. :-(
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
No news as such, however... I kept thinking about the concert and how I really wanted to go, but the Thursday thing kept annoying me, and by the time I'd decided to heck with it, I'm gonna order two tickets after all, all but the very worst seats had been taken.
I just woke up from a nightmare (!) in which I could only get standing tickets (?! *LOL*), and decided to give it one more shot... and lo and behold, the ticket website now offers row center blocks row ten (!) (from the most expensive group of tickets!). I immediately booked two tickets, so will see you guys there, after all, and with even better seats than last year! Oddly enough, I just checked, and they still have row ten seats available. I'm not sure how/why, maybe they've held back a bunch of seats for later purchase, or maybe they're returns? Either way, I have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not still dreaming, haha.I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I picked up my tickets today at a friend who lives just across the border in Germany (saved on mailing costs). I still cannot believe it, and have to pinch myself. I thought for sure that either I wasn't going at all, or else I'd be stuck wtih the worst seats in the house, but to get such good seats after all... *happy sigh* Now I'm just gonna hope for some really great announcements. Last year's concert was Perfect, it'll be hard for them to top it, IMHO. Of course, if they were to get, say, Masashi Hamauzu, I might just have to kiss the ground on which TPTB walk. *grin*
I was speaking idiomatically. |
Am happy with the Nintendo news, but not nearly as familiar with the music (except for Mario). Looks like I've got some catching up to do in that area the coming months!
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I have died and gone to VGM heaven, surely. Uematsu in concert, three days after my 30th birthday. A better present I cannot possibly imagine! I MUST must must get tickets for this!!!!
edited to add: oops, hadn't seen the new thread yet. Sowwy. FELIPE NO |
Apparently the third arranger is Masashi Hamauzu! Now if only he'd actually come to the concert, too... that'd just make my year!
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Sorry, no news, just wanted to say I 99.9 % certain won't be going to this concert, after all. We were supposed to go to Florida on a three-week vacation this weekend, but the Icelandic volcano ash cloud killed our vacation plans, as our flights were cancelled. We've now rescheduled for September. Am pretty disappointed, but am a LOT more disappointed about not being in Florida right now, and if I have the choice between Nintendo music and Florida... yeah. :-P
No matter, what, though, I will go to the Uematsu concert next year!!! Now have two tickets for very good seats which won't be used. I wonder if they'll take them back, or if I can resell them? I think the concert is sold out, so surely someone would be interested... Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I'm guessing everybody here already has tickets / great seats, but I just put my two tickets up for auction on eBay Germany. Just hope I can break even. *snifs* It still hurts, not going, after I got so lucky getting hold of those two tickets at such a late time, but on the upside, my volcanic-ash-cloud-delayed holidays are now fast approaching, so that's some comfort.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Is there a thread for the 2011 concert, Symphic Odysseys: a tribute to Nobuo Uematsu? Apparently it was sold out in 24 hours!
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I was in a ryokan in Nikko, Japan, with very wonky wifi. While the other were taking a dip in the onsen, I was sitting in front of the laptop at 6 pm local time, desperate to get tickets. :-) Worked out all right in the end, got two fine seats in block B, row 11. It's my 30th b-day present to myself (I'm not above admitting I'm a huge Uematsu fan), so am pretty happy it worked out!
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
For those interested, they're adding a second performance of the Uematsu tribute concert on the same Saturday, in the afternoon (so I guess the original evening performance is now the second one, *grin*). Tickets go on sale March 1st. I might just try and get one, can never have enough Uematsu music.
I also booked tickets for the Distant Worlds concert in November in London. Any excuse to spend a few days in London is always welcome, and this sounds like a really good one. ;-) I was speaking idiomatically. |
Tickets for the afternoon performance of Symphonic odysseys: Tribute to Nobuo Uematsu (which will include music from FF, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and even the new Last Story) are now on sale.
The seats in the category 1 block are all sold out already, though. And Mr. Uematsu will be doing an autograph session before each concert. I'm thinking about going to Cologne on Friday and stay until Sunday, make it a nice shopping and concerting birthday weekend. :-) What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
FYI, concert program and link to the live video/audio feed of the evening performance are now on-line at Symphonic Odysseys - video game music concert

Anyone else at the concerts today? I had a great time this afternoon, now taking a quick bite before the evening performance. Almost everything was new stuff, not normally played at VGM concerts. King's Knight, for one, *LOL* I thought Waterside was particularly pretty, played on strings instead of the piano. Surprising Final Fantasy themes from the older games popped up, and the encores were lovely (I had tears in my eyes, darnit).
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I saw Mr. Uematsu and the man standing behind him on the photo (still don't know who he is!) in a music store (selling musical instruments and sheet music, I mean, not like Saturn) on Friday, almost bumped into him! *blush* Already had his autograph, though, and he was clearly on personal time, so I just let them be. ;-) Cologne is a great place for shopping!
I had a wonderful time at the concerts, both times. The only downside were the annoying lighting effects. I had block B seats twice (front of the stalls), and at times had to close my eyes against the lights shining directly into them. :-( Jam it back in, in the dark.

edited to add: next year, Symphonic Fantasies (FF, KH, Mana and Chrono) will be repeated on July 5 and 6. I'm a little bit disappointed they're repeats, but I loved that concert, and will probably try and get tickets for both performances again as another birthday pressie to myself, *LOL* (they should always do these concerts early July!). Tickets go on sale in December. There's nowhere I can't reach.
