To me pretty is more naturally good-looking, when hot is more sex appeal, but that is not always the case.
I think context is the key. If I see a naturally pretty girl, I'll ask a friend if he thinks she is hot. But if I were to describe her I'd say she has a pretty face, nice body, etc. How ya doing, buddy?
