SPEEDERBIKE LEVEL IS PAIN.
Had to be done since I think you summed it up in the least number of words XD I only ever played it on emulator and after clearing the bike section once only to get owned by the boss I was pretty much with a feeling of yeah... why bother... I think battletoads was one of those first games to pretty much encourage players to be exspected to have flawless runs through a video game, eliminating any signs of... what's that word... oh yeah fun!

Snake Rattle and Roll had a pretty similar level of frustration involved too (ice stage anyone?) as well as Kid Chameleon, especially when you realise you don't do the levels in numerical order if you want to keep your sanity, because the stages are a maze in itself (I remeber one attempt I ended up going in circles replaying levels!) although that was made by another company. I'm amazed there was so many reports of battletoads though for the amount of frustration they caused gamers.

for anyone who needs reminding of the bike stage rage they felt (random toilet humour optional)

Jam it back in, in the dark.
