I am going to give another vote for Widescreen. 22' currently is the sweet spot in price these days. As stated before, you can either get one that supports 1:1 pixel mapping, use driver central timings, or like me when I played older games (fallout etc..), just play them in window mode.
Back a few years ago when I played WoW, I would have it in windowed mode at 1280x1024, with my vent/browser opened beside it on the 22inch monitor, and a movie playing on my secondary. Widescreen monitors give you so much more desktop retail space that after a week of using it, you will wonder how you managed without.
There are a few good price/performance ones out there... That Benq you linked to is somewhat bland at 8MS and 650:1 contrast.
Here are a few examples of 22inch monitors at descent prices.
Newegg.com - BenQ FP222W Black 22" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 700:1 - Retail

Jam it back in, in the dark.
