My thought is that it may be the tuner box is outputting a resoloution to the monitor that it cannot handle (doubtful as analogue TV resolution is only 320x240). I know most modern CRT's will tell you this in the OSD, but older ones may just go blank. Another think to try would be to bring the box over to a friends house with an analouge LCD monitor and see if you are getting simmilar results. If you have any sort of video input (SVIDEO) on your PC's video card you could see if you can at least get output that way. I am also thinking it could a Macrovision issue, but then you would at least be seeing something (random garbage/scrambled picture.)
Ultimately though, it could just be that the box isn't designed to work with computer monitors. The fact that you have no manual, or support site leaves you with little to go on in the event absolutely nothing works. I would try to find a serial number/model number or maybe ask your father if he knows anything else about it. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
