Eat garlic. The scent will become detectable in your sweat. You may not sense it but insects will, and they're repulsed by the smell.
Garlic is good for you in general, so eating a clove once a week should be enough to keep the bugs off. I don't think that garlic supplements will work as well, however. The oil is the active repellent and the pills have significantly less amounts. You don't have to chew the clove. Just dice it and swallow the bits like aspirin. If you wish, chase it with a tablespoon of Mylanta to reduce any stomach gas that sometimes occurs with garlic. Similarly, I've heard that citrus fruits can ward off mosquitos. I think it's also the oils in them. This is the basis for the Citronella candles. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Don't you live in Hawaii, kupomog? I seem to recall a larger issue with sand fleas than mosquitos when I visited.
