Well, that doesn't necessarily prevent current fans of tracks from the 20-50 range from providing praiseworthy comments. It might be better than leaving them blank when a bunch of other tracks get added comments.
Also, a nomination will come later tonight. Gotta decide on something decent. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
beatmania IIDX 14 GOLD ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK - in the Sky: Typical dance beat fluff. It sounds like most frantic rhythm genre game stuff that I've in heard in passing by the arcade. In that regard, it's nothing special.
Gran Chaser - KNIGHT GEAR: Synth-driven rock is always appreciated. Though it doesn't go far beyond the usual boundaries of creativity, it still has its fun moments. The synth-guitar solo was solid without becoming cheesy, and that's not exactly a simple accomplishment. Grim Grimoire Soundtrack CD - BOOK OF DAYS: Although I like nominations with strong cultural influence, BOOK OF DAYS is simply too lackadaisical to impress me. It just lingers without truly accomplishing anything. It would make acceptable "town" music but I can't see it being much more. Hook (SNES Game Rip) - Neverland Tundra: I've finally figured out why I dislike many SNES tracks, and it's not the "tinniness" factor. The sound samples are quite bare, and when used alone, they sound too hollow and sparse for my tastes. It's only when the samples are layered in a complex fashion that the SNES accomplishes truly noteworthy sound. Having established this, "Neverland Tundra" is on the simple, and therefore empty, side of SNES music. Pass. R - Racing Evolution (Game Rip) - Mars Landing: The slowly progressing intro was an instant appeal for me. The chunky bass and snappy drum kit was also quite nice. I was disappointed by the fact that the steady development didn't lead to a clearly established melody. For what it is, it's still enjoyable and deserves to place this week, but I feel as though it could've been great. Right now, it's only good. Space Quest III - The Pirates of Pestulon (PC Game Rip) - Closing Medley: The melody is distinctive, and that's good. Unfortunately, it has very little backup. The depth improves by the end, thankfully, but it's not quite enough to make up for the first half which sorely needs accompaniment. Twisted Metal 2 (PlayStation Game Rip) - Holland [Field of Screams]: I confess, I nominated this one. When doing so, I knew it wouldn't place. I'd be shocked if it did, since it doesn't exactly cater to the softer sensibilities of most VGM fans. But who cares? I love this track and it's one I've wanted to nominate for two years. So screw aiming to win this week, I'm sharing one of my personal faves. Blues rock is grossly underrepresented in VGM but "Holland" makes up for this by being thoroughly awesome. If you don't like this track, then I'm sorry, you don't know how to rock. Wiz 'n' Liz The Frantic Wabbit Wescue (Sega Genesis Game Rip) - Name Entry: It's slightly different but that enhances the charm, actually. For a Genesis track, it's rather impressive, even. It lacks the usual "grinding" quality that most Genesis sampling possesses. The melody is decent and I found the sub-layers to be pretty good too. A quality effort. Spread 'Em! 2 Points: Gran Chaser - KNIGHT GEAR 2 Points: R - Racing Evolution (Game Rip) - Mars Landing 2 Points: Wiz 'n' Liz The Frantic Wabbit Wescue (Sega Genesis Game Rip) - Name Entry Yeah, I didn't give my own nomination any points. Big deal. It was never gonna win anyway and I was cool with that at the time of nomination. There simply aren't enough rock fans involved with SotW to give it the praise that I personally feel it deserves. I basically ended my own placement streak on purpose. :P To make up for vainly nominating a song nobody else would enjoy, here's a nomination that I think will more than compensate: Album: Quilt Original Soundtrack Track Title: Beyond a blue Sky -From Greensleeves- (karaoke ver.) Track Number: 21 Composer: Noriyasu Agematsu (feel) Year: 2006 Catalog Number: HBMS-034 Source: GMR Online
There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
Rimo's post is SO propped for the Robbie Robertson quote.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
Week 120 has already concluded. Over the month, enough votes were accumulated at STC to determine a winner. I think most of the tracks were removed from the thread and the winners are awaiting their archival on the SotW site. We're all the way to Week 121 now.
And now that GFF is back, we can tally the non-STC votes for Week 119, determine true winners and finally get some updates on the site. In the meantime, I suggest that Week 121 be posted here as soon as possible, then allowed until the end of next week to conclude. After that, we can have the Battle Week that should've taken place at the end of January but had to be suspended until Week 119 winners were officially declared. Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
4th Place is what I would consider a victory, considering that I was fairly confident the Twisted Metal track would place last. Although, if we strictly went by STC votes, it would've claimed a bronze, I'm glad we waited and honored the voters here.
I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
