A bit from Column A.
A bit from Column B.
Basically, America grew up on Bob Barker; he's the face of morning entertainment. And senior citizens are TPIR's core demographic. Seniors can be pretty stubborn and also fiercely loyal. I wonder if replacing Barker is tantamount to sacrelige for a good portion of the elderly.
No matter what they do the spice the show up - not that they should even attempt to deviate from the original sets or formula - I feel as though a lot of people will reject Drew Carey on principle, not for what he is, but rather, what Carey isn't.
He's a funny guy, in that "geeky best friend" way, but he doesn't possess the warmth and charm of Barker. The show is apt to feel empty with Bob's machismo spilling all over the stage. The show's gonna be on a tight leash between sponsors and ratings. It's no longer the anchor of the morning lineup; TPIR has to prove itself all over again.
I just hope they sack that horrible announcer who replaced Rod Roddy. He has absolutely no character in his voice.
There's nowhere I can't reach.
