Personally, I always thought that the Legend of Zelda for the SNES was overrated. I truly feel that while it was solid, there are many games that are far better for the SNES.
This.

I was going to bring this game up but decided it would just unleash too much of a backlash from people who still see their experience with it through rose-colored glasses.

A Link to the Past was an okay game but it wasn't groundbreaking, nor was it even particularly original. It was just a retread of most of the things that made the original Legend of Zelda good, with some updated graphics. The Dark World was pretty gimmicky; even by the time the SNES era came about, the idea of an identical-but-sinister alternate dimension was already starting to get played out.

When viewed in the pantheon of Zelda games as a whole, Link to the Past is pretty mundane. Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker and hell, even Minish Cap have more charm and replay value. It may not be 100% fair to compare later games to the early, foundation-forming titles in the series , but by equal timeframe comparison, Super Metroid was also only the third in its series and that game was leaps and bounds a more inspiring and thrilling experience than Link to the Past managed to be.

But nostalgia plays a large part in fondness and it's hard to dislike Link, so I can see why people think Link to the Past is better than it truly is.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

The knee-jerk U SO RONG reaction to my opinion is only helping to prove how overrated A Link to the Past actually is.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

That would totally apply if I nominated any of it, moron.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

My taste is my own. This doesn't make me any more wrong than it makes you right.

Doesn't invalidate my point.

1: Played A Link to the Past. Thought it was okay but nothing special.

2: Played it again about a decade later. Still didn't find it to be as amazing as others said it was.

3: Played other Zelda games. Found them more interesting and exciting.

4: SO UNINFORMED

I was speaking idiomatically.

I am not wild about a popular thing!

I like things that others do not!

I am clearly deficient!

From now on, I will only like things that are super popular because being a sheep is how you establish mental superiority!

Be back later! Going to a NASCAR event, and then listening to some Kanye West albums. No, you can not come with me.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Actually, I kinda went to park my car, then came back and made a sarcastic reply without noticing that the thread had descended into nonsequiturs and kitten macros.

Sorry.

It's a little grating when you state an opinion and everyone is like, "That's wrong."

And I'm like "Technically, I can't be wrong. I'm just stating what I think."

And they're "No, you're wrong. Also, because it'll sting, your taste in music sucks too."

And I'm "Wait, that wasn't even called for, honestly."

And they're "You are pretty much wrong at all things."

And I'm "But...it was only the opinion of one person..."

And then I leave the room for a moment and they're all "KITTEHS!"

And I come back and am :snarkmode:

And they're "WTF DUDE YOUR MUSIC STILL SUCKS :OFFTOPIC:"

And you're all "Why can't you just be cool and not defend your opinions?"

And see why I might raise an eyebrow?

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I bet it didn't even work when you put it into your Super Nintendo.

What a useless hunk of plastic Ocarina of Time was.

Edit: Just checked, you've nominated Weird Al not once, but twice for SAUS.

Moron.
I just checked, because I was looking for something else and figured while I was there...

I only nominated Weird Al once. It was in SAUS I.

Good job at making up lies just to prove your point.

Moron.

No, it was "Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota."

If I were to nominate another Weird Al song, though, it'd probably be Hardware Store.

But that's a pretty big if.

I didn't know that the statute had been reduced to less than a month.

I'll keep this in mind the next time Paco posts something to the MEC thread.

I was speaking idiomatically.
