It's weird - on the web I haven't really seen an increased traffic in PSP interest due to the new $199 price. Do you think this is because people interested in it already purchased one? I thought the new price would generate some increased interest in this system... Or do you think people are waiting to see if there will be a redesign?
Jam it back in, in the dark.

I went into the local Gamestop today, and there was a PSP with Medieval playing on it, so I got a chance to try one out finally. Wow - talk about an out of body experience. I kept trying to hold the unit (it was tied down) closer to me because I felt like my PS2 had "shrunk." It felt really claustrophobic. To me, this was a great sign. Because it really felt like playing a PS1/PS2 game on a smaller screen. The analog nub was a different design than I thought it would be, but I can see why they did that due to space constraints. Sensitivity was decent.
There's more games out and scheduled to be out this year for PSP that I'm interested in than there are Xbox 360 games that I'm interested in. I'm still waiting to see if it's going to be the Atari Lynx/Game Gear of its day, though... There's nowhere I can't reach.

Unless they changed the Giga Pack price since I last heard of it...This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

4GB memory stick for only $39 more than a PSP system itself. With Sony cracking down on "cracking" the PSP, is there really that much of a market for a simple memory card... that costs $239? Gotta love paying $150 more for the same storage too, eh? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820183020How ya doing, buddy?

Ritek link is compact flash, not duo pro, so it's not PSP compatible. But, it's all flash memory. Why the difference in price?

Sony has done significant changes to a system before. Look at the PS1 moving from the old controllers to the Dual-Shocks: that was a huge change...

Seriously though, these gaming companies lately like Sony et. al. are pretty tight-lipped and would say that even if they were planning to make an official announcement of the next version next week. But, point taken.FELIPE NO

Looks like Walmart is selling the PSP Core system for $169 on Black Friday. I wonder what the future holds for PSP now that Sony's cash cow, the PS3, is out...

Wow, this is extremely interesting. I do have a decent amount of PS1 games and am now seriously looking at the PSP.

Price drops? I've seen a few deals and then just noticed this on Newegg:

I'm surprised people aren't more hyped about the extra 32MB of RAM to help with loading times. The two main reasons I had shyed away from PSP as a system up until this point was battery life and loading times, and this new PSP addresses both of those. (Although to extend battery life you'll have to use the old-style battery which is bigger, so it will stick out of your PSP a bit.)
I did have one question though: they mentioned something about a new headphone jack. Is this going to be proprietary Sony BS like the headphones plug into some sort of square-shaped port or something, or will we be able to plug in standard headphones? Anyway, I will probably get the Daxter Entertainment Pak as I want that game anyway, and it's actually not too bad a deal for what you get. I have about 25 PS1 games, and if I could play them at work on my lunchbreak for example I might actually get through some of them. ![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I was surprised to see the Daxter pak and slim PSP in Walmart yesterday. I didn't realize it was out already. This seems like a sweet spot in the PSP's lifespan. There are some very cheap, solid older titles out, decent games in the near future, and awesome titles coming later such as God of War. I really hope the PSP competes with DS this round.

There is a pretty good mega-post over at [H] covering Pandora and also converting PSX images to use on the PSP: Putting CFW on your PSP Slim - Having trouble figuring it out? Look inside for info - [H]ard|Forum I haven't modded mine yet as I'm enjoying the games I have purchased so far, but I do plan to get a Datel battery at some point so I can play the PSX titles I have sitting collecting dust.

I hadn't realized that there's more PSPs in the U.S. than Xbox 360's?
WorthPlaying - Xbox 360 (X360) , PlayStation 3 (PS3), Nintendo Wii, Xbox, PlayStation 2 (PS2), GameCube (NGC), PSP, Nintendo DS (NDS), GBA, Windows PC - All about games ! Also, it outsold the PS3 during the December holiday season. So, that being said, why isn't there more development for the PSP? Besides ports. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
