I bought, last week: MKD2: Armegeddon, God of War, and Shadow Hearts: From the New World all for PS2.
I had read about MDK2 again in the forums here, and I really enjoyed the usually Shiny quirkiness of MDK. I found it at Gamestop used for $4.99, so why not? Also, as I bought it I said "Oh and do you have God of War?" because I had seen it was $20 now. They pulled out a used copy, which looked to be in good condition so I went with it. So, I got God of War and MDK2 for the same price as God of War would have been alone, with my gamer discount card. Bargain gamer strikes again! I will not play Shadow Hearts 3 until probably 2007. Playing SH1 now; I just picked it up because of the ridiculous scarcity/price of SH1 on Ebay, and complete scarcity in regular game stores... Next, I'm thinking about hitting up pawn shops. It might be fun to get a Genesis with some games, and build up my SNES/PS1 collection for cheap if possible. How ya doing, buddy? |
Saw GT4 at Costco for $15 so I picked it up. Played it for about 10 minutes, realized it was still the cold, heartless, boring, pointless "simulation" racing that it always has been and traded it in for some store credit 2 days later. I do want a racing fix though; perhaps I'll check out TOCA 2.
There's nowhere I can't reach.

Just picked up: Rayman Revolution, Ridge Racer V, and Mark of Kri used at Gamestop for $23.37 combined. Rayman disc is pretty beat to heck, so I'm giving it tlc on the disc grinder to smooth it out.
Rayman 2 on Dreamcast was my favorite Dreamcast game (solid platforming over gimmicks ftw!) so I'm looking forward to trying out the PS2 version. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Don't think I posted this before, but last weekend I picked up Metal Gear Solid 3: Substitence for PS2. Just today, I picked up Paper Mario for GC for $19.99 at Hastings. (They have greatly expanded their used & new selection.) Much more reasonable than at Gamestop, where the suckers are still selling it new for $49.99. I mean, c'mon wtf?

This week I purchased Disgaea 2 on release day lest it become difficult to find. I also purchased Jak & Daxter 3, because I'm about half-way through Jak & Daxter 1 and am truly enjoying it. Costco still had it for $15 so I felt it was a good purchase. Besides some RPG action, my plan is to play J&D 1, then 2, then 3 in order.

I almost forgot to mention: Lego Star Wars II: ToT for GC. I'm enjoying the game in general, but feel the levels are just too long. Either the gameplay should vary more within the levels, or they should have made them shorter. I usually have time to play the game later in the night after prime-time TV, and I almost fell asleep playing a level the other night before I finally completed it.

Just picked up Dawn of War: Dark Crusade day before yesterday. I own DoW but never had a chance to get into it. The first expansion pack didn't look like it was worth it, but this expansion looks bigger than the actual first DoW game so I couldn't resist. I played the demo of DoW quite a bit and the word of mouth on this sounds pretty good.

On BF yesterday I picked up a Wii, one extra Wii-mote, Zelda TP, and Excite Truck. Tried out Excite Truck and Wii Sports and I'm lovin' the Wii. I played Zelda late at night last night after we did a bunch of family stuff, and while I'm sure I will be able to get into it when I have more time to sit down with it, Excite Truck was more immediately... "exciting."

Just won an auction for a copy of Rayman 2 for Dreamcast that is supposedly in good condition. (I will judge that when I see it.) But, if it is in good condition, then I will be a very, very happy camper.
Platformers have been trying to catch up to Rayman 2's greatness for many years now... I tried Rayman 2: Revolution for the PS2 but it was utter garbage compared to the DC version. (It would probably be fine if you had never played the DC version, however.) Anyhow, I had previously picked up a used copy of Rayman 2 DC but it turned out to be very used & abused. So, onward & upward!Jam it back in, in the dark.

Picked up the Disgaea 2 strategy guide from the Gamestop in the mall for $9.99. Decent deal I think. I printed out an FAQ for this title, and print-outs from Gamefaqs.com usually do fine, but for this game I really wanted to pick up the strategy guide because it looks to be so much quicker to use. I might look for a guide for Disgaea 1 next - I'm much further into the storyline for that title.
I managed to avoid picking up Sonic for Wii. Oh, eventually I will get it, yes. But right now I'm looking into purchasing a condo (REAL tired of subsidizing other people's mortgages with my hard-earned money, of course they'll probably repeal that tax deduction as soon as I buy one, batrastards... ) so I'm keeping the game purchases down to a dull roar at least until next fall...There's nowhere I can't reach.

I lied! But, it was for a good cause. For the last 4 months, the only Wii accessories I have seen at Wal-mart are those plastic colored "gel" grips that go over your Wii-mote so it doesn't fly out of your hand and causes major LOLage... Well, today at Wal-Mart I ran across 3 nunchuck controllers. Those things have been harder to come by than a 24-hour news story that isn't about Anna Nichole Smith, so I went ahead and snagged it. Now I could actually play 2-player Wii sports boxing. (If I had any friends that is...

Well, you can get them off Ebay, but they are always more expensive there. I have seen a few auctions for the $19.99 MSRP, but then remember you have to also pay shipping. But, most auctions I have seen have the 'chuck going for over MSRP + shipping. So, hard to find might not be accurate, but it is indeed hard to find in my area in stores. They are non-existant here. In fact, I saw Nintendo brand component cables in the local Gamestop the other day but I haven't seen a 'chuck or Wii-mote for months...

Just picked up Super Paper Mario at Costco last night. I figure it will be regular price for some time (even though it will eventually be greatest hits-style) and it was $43 at Costco so I pulled the trigger. I'm almost done with TP so I'm going to try to finish that up this weekend before I dig into 2d land...

I traded in my BIG DAMN TRUCKS! for Resident Evil 4 for Wii. Played about an hour and a half so far. The graphics/sound are good. I like the controls, but the over-the-shoulder view makes things really claustrophobic and I'm not sure I like that to be honest. Still, with the trade it was only $15 so it was a good buy.
![]() Edit: I was up until 4am playing RE4. I haven't been that drawn-in by a game for as long as I can remember. Good thing I didn't start it in the morning or I would have played it straight through... FELIPE NO

I just realized I picked up a couple titles since my last visit to this thread. I picked up Metroid Prime: Corruption, and also found a GH copy of Shadow of the Colossus for $15 at Costco. Costco always has the GH's for PS2 on the cheap immediately upon release. MP:C says I've visited 30% of the rooms, but I know that some rooms take longer due to puzzles, so I have no clue how far in I am. I haven't played SotC yet, but expect to get at least $15 worth of grand artistic gaming vision out of it.

Traded in a bunch of old worthless PS2 games for Mario Galaxy. I'm not sure I'm big on the gameplay yet. Somehow, the roundness of the levels seems too confining... But, overall seems like a quality Mario title.
Jam it back in, in the dark.

Just picked up Rogue Galaxy at Wal-Mart for $19. I don't know if it's dropped at Gamestop yet but it hadn't last time I was at the shop. I just started FFXII though so this will sit on the shelf for a bit first...

Since I now have all 3 SMB games, Mario 64, and Sonic 1 for VC, and plan to get a couple more VC titles in the near future, I picked up a classic controller just yesterday. (It hasn't seen use yet.) With its SNES controller-derived goodness, I just might try to tackle something like Castlevania 4.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I picked up SSBB just because it's new at Costco which means it's $43.95 instead of $50 like everyplace else. I'm not quite feeling it yet; I didn't realize the matches would usually last 10 seconds before the next round. But, I'm going to give it more time since it's apparently a megally-collosally-awesome title....

I just picked up R-type: Command for PSP. I'm starting to favor the PSP heavily in favor of the Wii. I almost picked up GoW for PSP, but I figure that will be Greatest Hits eventually for $19. (GoW2 for PS2 is already GH!) Also, I figure R-type: Command will eventually be kind of rare. I've wanted to pick up a strategy game for PSP ever since I got it this Jan., and since I already own Disgaea and FF: Tactics on other systems I've been waiting for this one to come out. Also, I like the fact that it's unique to the PSP system. I'll post a mini-review in the dedicated thread after spending some time with it.
I was speaking idiomatically.

Today, I picked up The Witcher: Enhanced Edition. It seems like a year since I played the demo. Then, I waited for the price to drop but it stopped at $30 and didn't go any lower so I waited. Now, that patience has been rewarded.
More info on this edition: The Witcher Enhanced Edition for PC - The Witcher Enhanced Edition PC Game - The Witcher Enhanced Edition Computer Game and http://www.thewitcher.com/community/ I actually went in to see if I was going to purchase WAR as an impulse buy and when I saw this sitting right next to it on the shelf it was no contest. The last PC game I purchased was Oblivion, at release. Man, it's been awhile my old friend PC...How ya doing, buddy?
