Nice additions recently to VC. I might actually pick up DKC - I'll have to see. I have a DKC2 SNES cart and I didn't really "feel" DCK3 when I played it. However, we spent quite a bit of time in college playing DKC 1 week when we rented it. I remember it was a barrel of laughs as I would always hold down the run button and blast through the stages at break-neck speed, causing my roommates much distress lol...
![]() Games like DKC are what VC was made for. This game still holds up fine today as far as graphics/gameplay: it's just plain fun. Anyone could pick it up and play it, which goes along with the philosophy of the Wii...

Wow, way cool. I might plop down 20 points in the next week or so and pick up either DKC/Super Ghouls & Ghosts or DCK/Castlevania 4...
The only thing holding me back from SG&G possibly is that there isn't a save feature iirc. That was a very, very unforgiving game, so lack of save feature would have a big impact for me. There's nowhere I can't reach.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Let's hope they keep up the quality uploads like this! I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |

Is that right, 4.7 million VC downloads? I would say that is beyond successful. The cheapest ones are 5 bucks, so that means Nintendo has probably taken in at least $25 million on VC alone for Wii. That is amazing, considering that so many of the titles currently on there are old NES ones no one cares about, etc.

I can't even find screenshots on the 'net of Deadmoon for TG16. Perhaps when I see some I'll remember what game this is. Interesting choice of releases - I thought Millon's Secret Castle had already been released though?
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Even though it's been part of other compilation packages, Sonic 2 is still a solid VC release. Of course, there were better candidates for a more immediate release perhaps.

) Shy Guys ftw!Edit: I didn't know this, but you can "rate" VC games on Nintendo.com. Perhaps we should all rate the crap VC games as a 1 and the good games as a 5 and Nintendo will get the hint? This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Silent Debuggers looks interesting, but in the end probably not worth the price. I found a good review site (it may have been posted somewhere before, I don't recall) for TG-16 VC reviews: http://www.virtual-turbo.com/ It seems to be consistently updated with full reviews of games.
After seeing some screenshots of Paper Mario I'm kind of excited about this download. It seems to have more of an old-school Mario flavor than TTYD did. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Nice! Pretty good VC week imho. I read the IGN review of Kirby on VC and they basically said it's the best game ever made. Pretty high praise for an old NES title...

How ya doing, buddy? |
I wonder if they would consider releasing Gameboy games? Metriod II was pretty good, along with a ton of other titles of course.

For a fee of only $5, it's worth it for me for the convenience of being able to play SMB2 on the Wii which I always have hooked up, vs. having to hook up my old NES even though I own one and also the SMB2 cartridge. It's cheaper than buying a new 72-pin connector and opening the NES and installing it so that the screen doesn't flash. Where I do agree with the argument against VC games is if people are buying a ton of them, like 20 or more VC games. Then, it would probably be cheaper in the long run to get the actual console + games off Ebay. But then, you still need to have the console hooked up, through the right connectors, to play the game. In reality, I would rather emulate most games rather than mess with VC, but for a few classics I would play very often, such as SMB2, it's nice to have the option. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Adventure Island is extremely simplistic for a platformer. I had Adventure Island for Gameboy. It was one of those games you had to play through in one sitting, and you definitely could due to its simplistic nature. I'm not saying it's a bad game, just simple.

(Nintendo): "Here's a 1GB USB drive for only $100. Look, Xbox360's new hard drive is $180, so ours is way cheaper." Me: "Bye N, I'm buying a 360 and dropping my Wii on Reggie from the top of a tall building. And if I see that Miyamoto dude he'll get the business end of my Wii-mote nunchuk." I was speaking idiomatically. |

I've just picked up SMB3 on VC and noticed that in the first level there is a "cascading" effect on the right-hand side of the screen when you move forward. (Blocks of color appear/disappear, similar to artifacting in 3D games.) Is this normal, due to the secret warp whistle behind-the-graphics hidden feature of this level? I couldn't remember from the original game. Or, is it crummy emulation?
