I think for a game like F.E.A.R. the quicksave is perfect, except that you can get yourself into trouble. I needed a lot of back-up saves on that game, because you can get yourself into a situation where you simply don't have enough armor, ammo, supplies, or powerful weapons to proceed.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
