English clip from Sony Site.
One of my favorite scenes.....

Anyway, as far as Cid's concerned....Ummmm....you could tell he was a good ol' boy from the game. The way they translated his speech, and it's been a while since I played KH, but I seem to remember that type of voice.

Kadaj's voice was a little strange....Maybe because I've watched the thing a kajillion times.

Steve Burton? Hey, I like him on General Hospital, and he has a good voice for Cloud.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

It's possible they TRIED to re-synch the voices, and when the tests didn't pan out, they changed their minds.

Or, the whole thing could have been held up by Steve Burton. He IS on a soap opera, and they can have pretty hectic schedules--since it's filmed in New York.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Wow. Sued. Heh--tough to pay money when you're jobless......

Anyway, right now, I'm counting down the days until I can get this. I wonder if this makes me a fangirl--or someone who thinks that this is actually a pretty decent thing?

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

I noticed a few when I was watching, but some of the more deeply hidden ones made me chuckle.

Spoiler:

My personal favorite though is
Spoiler:
the Loveless sign that hits Rude on the head has a picture of Aerith on it. Other Loveless signs in the movie also have a picture of Tifa.
Spoiler:
I thought the easter egg with the Squaresoft covers was an interesting one. They found FF7 (of course), Bushido Blade and Bushido Blade 2, and I caught Xenogears. Either they had too much time on their hands, or Square really wanted to thank people....

Just curious, since I know a lot of people who never watch the very end of any movie. As soon as the credits start rolling, they just turn the movie off. I learned earlier on that some movies might have a little extra something after the boring credits go by.......

How many of you actually saw the end?
Spoiler:
.......with the group photo and flowers on Cloud's desk in Seventh Heaven.

It'd be shame if you missed that......

Ahhh...but if you played the game...you know to stay until the very end.

How ya doing, buddy?

Spoiler:

You can see it in how none of the SHM (I hate that acronym) survived, and how they half-assed killed Cloud and brought him back, and how they brought back Sephiroth just to kill him half-assed again (instead of making a foe equal or superior to him). Not to say the fight was bad, but because it wasn't final. Sorry, but it wasn't.

Personally I thought the movie suffered because they brought back the rest of the party. They deserved more exposure than one or two lines a person. That part felt like a sitcom reunion more than anything.

But since I wasn't expecting much more than awesome flashy things, I'm perfectly happy. What were you expecting anyway?
I liked the movie. Not for story reasons, but for other reasons:

1) Sword fights. God, I LOVE sword fights. Don't ask me why. I just do.
2) (Keeping in mind I've only seen the Japanese version)--the VA for Kadaj is the same person who does Amano Ginji from GetBackers. It was interesting hearing him as a lunatic.
3) Reno and Rude. You have to feel sorry for Rude.......
4) The motorcycles.
5) Easter eggs (and a fanfare ringtone).
6) Cloud's sword. Whoever came up with that idea has my thanks.
and
7) The music! I have listend to the soundtrack at least once a day since I got it.

As for the story:
Spoiler:
Cloud's all angsty--again. He's being emo--again. He's being a loner--again. He's feeling guilty--wait--this is NEW! There are 3 baddies--ooooo--more newness! He's sick and could die---wow! He has a new sword made up of 6 swords--that's actually decent.
So, by the end of the movie, we have:
Cloud not guilty anymore.
One baddie becomes Sephiroth and gets his ass kicked by Cloud--alone (for the 3rd time) and two were beaten up earlier.
He's healed by Aerith's Water--not that he was fighting the illness much anyway. But--it was Kadaj's hotline to him....
He still has his swords.
BUT--the entire time he knew who he was. Bonus++.
There was a story--we just played it in game form many years ago. So, a_lurker, I agree with you that the story isn't final. They left open the possibility of others coming.

And, yes, the brief appearances of the others--except Tifa--was disappointing. However, that may have been a plot device. To prove that although he may not see them all the time--he still has friends. I dunno.

I thought it was a squid at first, too. Then I realized that it's Jenova's head.

I like the picture, too.

LOL--Mom is a squid?!

LMAO

Why Cloud was guilty is pretty simple:

"We let her die." He was right there, and there was nothing he could do about it. He even says that he "can't save anyone." But, if she hadn't died, then the planet couldn't have fought back, and Sephiroth would still be blocking the way....

God, Cloud is FF7's VASH.....(There had to be another way.)

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Thank God. I thought I was the only one who didn't like Blum's voice for Vincent....As much as I like Blum, I really hated this.

As for the others....Kadaj saying "alas" made me laugh hysterically.....

Oh, and DN: several years ago, someone was selling "materia" on ebay. It was a bowling ball on a stand.

Blum just sounds like he smokes too much, and ends up sounding really inappropriate and atrocious.
I agree with you. Blum is great at this sort of thing, it's just the way he did the voice that bothered me. Like you said, the Japanese VA voice was smooth and calm--and, isn't that how you "heard" Vincent's voice when you played the game? They tried to make him sound tough, but it was all wrong.

Here's hoping you're right about a 07/07/07 date.
Not to mention the 777 attack.....

Anyway, about the Yuffie figure....

The man who made that did a great job. All he has to do is submit pictures of his work to the company to be considered for employment.

You know, I wonder if people who have never played FFVII, would pick this up--since it looks so good. (I know I would).

New Aerith play arts and statue pics from the latest issue of Hobby Japan. She looks great and can't wait to pick up the figure, again I'm very pleased that they included her staff. I wonder if she'll come with the basket of flowers. Unfortunately it looks like her dress will hinder much of her leg movement, just like Yuna. As for the statue, her face sculpt looks kinda 'meh'/out of place.

Her face kind of looks like a mix of the original, AC, and Kingdom Hearts....Maybe that's why it looks out of place.

Although I like the City of the Ancients set.
