I believe this one is a little newer than Maria-sama ga Miteru. According to ANN, it's from 2005-2006. It's also a rather short sequel.

I'm going to venture a guess here. That sort of looks like Hunter X Hunter, but I've only seen ONE episode.

It might be, but I'm not too sure about the style. Well, I haven't watched the last X episodes, and the flashbacks might be different.
