It took them long enough to do this. Scott's actually been wanting to do this for at least three years. Unfortunately, Jerry Perenchio (co-executive producer and owner of the rights to the Theatrical Cut) refused to give permission for the Theatrical Cut to be re-released, due to some grudge with Scott.
I don't know how they managed to convince Perenchio to finally give the go-ahead, but finally I can quit waiting for the DVD-set. And I get to see the new cut in theaters (too young to have seen either of the others). Hell yeah! Jam it back in, in the dark. |
That's impossible, as incorporating Mercerism into this movie would require nothing short of a remake.
EDIT: And based on the difficulty most seem to be having adapting Phillip K. Dick material properly, that's the last thing you want. There's nowhere I can't reach.
