Winamp's trying pretty hard to convince me not to use it...
I've tried Winamp several times in the last few years, but always end up going back to WMP. I'm trying to switch to Winamp permanently now, but there are a few issues that maybe someone can help with:
1. Every time I close the player an error pops up: The instruction at "0x534534534" referenced memory at "0xelkjrhshr342". The memory could not be "read." Why the hell is this happening? 2. What happened to different filetypes? Any file that's associated with Winamp is now a "Winamp media file." Explorer status bar, file properties, tooltip rollovers all say this... now how do I determine whether a file is an .avi, .mp3, .mid, .mpg, .mp4, .wav, etc? Oh and I don't want to disable hide file extensions for known file types just for this. Also, the player isn't playing video for .mp4s. Does Winamp need a special codec that WMP is hoarding or something? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I reinstalled, yeah, still getting that error. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I'd really rather use Winamp. I fixed the closing error. I just want to know why it eliminates file types and if it's possible to get Explorer to tell me which are which.
![]() Is there virtually no way to determine which of these files are midis, wavs and mp3s? Winamp (and therefore Windows Explorer) now considers them all of the same type of file! Edit: Since they're all considered the same file type, I can't even go into Explorer > Folder Options > File Types > Advanced and manually change it; if I were to specify the .mid extension is a MID file type instead of Winamp Media File, that would change .mp3 and .wav extensions to MID file types too. Is this something only I am frustrated with? Why does this behavior even exist? This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I was speaking idiomatically. |
