How to reduce the amount of resources my computer is using???

Basically I'd like to kill all unnecessary processes during the times that I'm working on MIDI sequencing. I've got a GB of RAM, but I've loaded a ton of samples into the sequencer that slows everything to a crawl, and playback is choppier than hell.

Will killing processes in the Task Manager help free up some resources so things aren't so unbearable? And if I end a lot of stuff, will it make a noticeable difference?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Here are a couple screencaps with info. I am not aware of how crucial several processes/startup items are, so I am reluctant to end them.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yikes. I have no idea if this amount is normal or typical.

Nothing but a USB-powered MIDI keyboard.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Cool. I will do that. Thanks a lot.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
