Anti-Virus? Anti-Spyware? Both?
I was curious as to what the GFF members use to protect their computers. So, vote in the poll, and then tell us exactly what programs you use.
Personally, I don't use anti-virus OR anti-spyware... or even firewalls. I never get virus' because I'm careful about what I put on my computer and web pages I visit. I simply don't have a need for it. When I was more paranoid, I used Norton (2005 was the last time I think). It does a fair job of catching the virus', but eats your memory like none other. I got called to a friends house today who wanted me to take care of a virus for them. I installed AVG and I decided to try that all-in-one anti-spyware program since it was free. The programs found the virus just fine, but couldn't take care of it. I'm not sure what the name of it was... but whenever you would search and click on one of the listed sites, it would forward you to a porn site search engine type thing. Quite annoying, they're very religious.
TheReverend, have you ever had a virus that AVG or Spybot (which was included in my all-in-one program) could not find, or at least could not take care of? I've had about two or three experiences like this with AVG. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
