Listen up maggots, I'm taking over for CHz while he's sippin' Penis Coladas on the nude beaches of Hawai'i. I know I'm supposed to do something, and if I can figure out what, I'll take care of it. Reasearch, vote tallies... no probalo.

Also, since I haven't nominated anything in like a year, here I go:
=== Kaleb.G ===
* Album Title: Concerto Gate Closed Beta BGM
* Artist: Kenji Ito
* Track Title: battle 01
* Source: Internets
* File Location: nom folder
* Disc Number: N/A
* Track Number: N/A
* Catalogue Number: N/A
* Year: 2007

Jam it back in, in the dark.

As being said, I don't really get where the rules are trying to go, whether it's

"keep out music that is mostly known by its original source rather than the game it appeared in"
or
"keep out all music that wasn't specifically composed or arranged for a game"
That's a valid concern... But I think it's pretty well defined by the rules on the Wiki (rule 4 and footnote 2) that since the original source would not be eligible for nomination, it would not be eligible when later included in a game. It may be somewhat unfair in the case where a guy makes a song, posts it online simply to share it, and later decides he wants it to be part of a legitimate game soundtrack. But is this really the case here? Even so, we'd need to update the rules to allow for such a lenience, and that would take some further discussion.

Until we can agree on a decision, CHz and I are going to put this nomination on hold. However, you're free to change your nomination for now while we decide if this track should be accepted.

Update. Voting is still open for now, but I'm restricting noms. Unfortunately, I have a ton of work to do right now and this is not as important as my salary. I'll get back to this ASAP.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Soothing Theme is nice but doesn't particularly interest me.

3-Prayers has some good parts but that shrill staticy frequency that permeates the song is fucking distracting.

Curse of Iron Pipe has some decent sections, but it feels like one of those songs that didn't take much thought to compose. (Also, CHz, I hear what you're talking about re: Life Force, LOL.)

It seems like you can't have SotW without ESTi. Viridianscape surely isn't one of his most exciting compositions, but it's good.

Virmire Ride has some decent backing elements but the lead instrument and melody is weak as hell. I've only sampled parts of the Mass Effect soundtrack, but I'm quite positive there are better tracks than this.

Sun's Tower has a good vibe going for it, but the composition could have benefitted from more attention to detail, as it feels sparse and choppy.

Treue is pretty groovy. Still not something I'd stick my neck out for, but it's all right.

Technotris didn't catch my ear on first listen, and it's still a brief composition, but it has some parts I like (mostly the second half). It edges out the rest as my favorite track this week, but just barely.

3 points - Technotris
2 points - Treue
1 point - Viridianscape
just missed - Sun's Tower

Additional Spam:
Artist: Lee Barber (The Orichalcon)
Game Title: Ioncross Freelancer: Total War
Track Title: Rochester Base Bar Music
Year: 2005
Source: Total War Music Soundtrack by TO and FIDGAF
The game seems legit (certainly more legit than stuff like You Have to Burn the Rope, so it's fine). That's cool TO composed for it, I don't really know him, but I've talked with him briefly. I'll put you on the queue.

Additional Spam:
With regards to the debate on licensed works being used for a game, it might be best to set-up a poll to decide if opinions are divided?
Could you do me a favor and set up this poll? It seems like you have some input on the matter and would probably be the best to handle it. Just make sure the voter results are public.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Sorry, I was going to close voting after I had the nominations ready for posting, but it looks like that was already taken care of. I didn't do any research on them yet though. I just posted the info I had in the research base. Maybe I screwed up. =o

But anyway, voting is CLOSED!

1). [26] LaTale (Game Rip) - Viridianscape
2). [19] Catan (XBLA rip) - Soothing Theme
3). [17] La-Mulana (Game Rip) - Curse of IRON PIPE
4). [14] Tetris (Famicom Game Rip) - Technotris
5). [9] Alien Soldier (Game Rip) - 3-PRAYERS (3st. BGM)
6). [8/5.5] Mass Effect Original Soundtrack - Virmire Ride
7). [8/4.5] Paper Mario (Game Rip) - Sun's Tower
8). [7] Super Robot Wars OG Original Generations Original Soundtrack - TREUE

I was speaking idiomatically.
