That post actually made me think of some of Mitsuda's great work on the Shadow Hearts series. "Twilight Street"/"Town of Twilight" from Shadow Hearts II actually uses a type of acoustic guitar (I think) as its main instrument, and is an excellent song in its own right.
What kind of guitar are you going for anyway? Acoustic, electric, other? Are fast-paced songs doable? There's nowhere I can't reach.
