The simplest way to preserve the files is to physically remove the drive and hook it up to another computer as a secondary drive or by an external case. Then it's a matter of copying over everything worth saving until this problem gets resolved.
Follow the directions on the message. It's easy enough to do, and hopefully will fix the problem. If not, I recommend finding out if the drive manufacturer has a downloadable program to check the drive for errors to see if it is failing or if it's just a software issue. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
