Most of my life has been spent in California, but family vacations have taken me through most of the westernmost states.
We traveled through Nevada and Utah to visit friends in Colorado for a few days. Since they live near Colorado Springs we took a day to walk around the Air Force Academy because their son was attending. It was huge, but mostly open ground from what I remember. I think we were technically in New Mexico for a few minutes during that trip, but I don't know for certain. Once went straight to Las Vegas for two days, which was boring as hell because I was fourteen. Thank God for arcades. Flew to Hawaii for two weeks with my mother, sister, and grandma. Ran out of things to go about eight days into the vacation, so I spent most of the time swimming and got an ear infection two days before the flight out. It's a good thing my grandma knew a doctor there since she had a condo and lived there once in a while. Traveled to Arizona to see Meteor Crater once, regretted that my father didn't take enough pictures while we were there. Also stopped by the Grand Canyon, which was equally as cool. I was stunned when we traveled through a forest to reach it. My thoughts of Arizona was nothing but flat desert. Have driven and flown to Washington state numerous times, thus going through northern Cali and Oregon only so far as the highways went. Nothing too impressive except for endless trees and mountains. There are noticably more porno shops with large signs by the highway in Oregon, though. Go figure. Since we moved to Washinton, whenever my friends come up we go to Vancouver, BC and hit up bars since half of my crew isn't of legal age here. I never understand what they find so attractive about downtown bars. I'd be cheaper and much more fun to get wasted on liquor here and party all night long rather than stay kinda sober for the drive back. That's all I got. Right now I'm too mired in self-inflicted poverty to travel much. Gotta save money to get back to California and my friends, and housing isn't getting cheaper. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
