[Multiplatform] Official Final Fantasy XIII Thread

I wouldn't get your hopes up as well. Because this' nothing but a rumor. And tomorrow is the king of all fake stories and rumors. As I said, Square was planning on a Final Fantasy game for PS3. That doesn't necessarily mean it's either this or the remastered version of FFVII.

I think you guys're just reading into this. Why would you even start ranting on this game. When even you haven't seen more screens (let alone trailers) of the game. Well, to me. It just sounds pathetic.

lol, That's not what I meant. Dispite you seeing that trailer. You still don't know where this game is headed. So you really can't rant on this game as it is. It's only when there's been more videos either put up on the IGNPS3 or any game news site + Youtube. Let alone have seen more screens of the game.

Well, I think "Lightning" besides the ATB bar, pretty much gives out the hint. That her name could be Lightning.

Well to me, from looking at the screens. It seems to be like an upgraded version of the FFXII battle. Though, without the arcs from enemy-to-player. And that menu is brought up by pressing the action button so that you can select the type of action to perform against the enemy or yourself (if it's a cure/restorative item).

Actually, Lightning is supposedly the protagonist's name. Like with Cloud is with Cloud.

Lv 1 - Thunder
Lv 2 - Thundara
Lv 3 - Thundaga

in the case of FFXII

Lv 4 - Thundaja

So what, throughout FFVII. They were using Cloud (though you can rename him to suit your tastes), and in FFVIII they had Squall. I don't see why you keep on whining and saying that Lightning won't be good. It's just ridiculous. I'm just basing my opinions on what Famitsu thinks, and they also assume that her name is Lightning as well.

And no offense, but that's a really stupid video.

I almost agree with FFVIII. But however, there was also some sci-fi features as well. Remember the metropolis futuristic city; Esthar? That had some scifi parts.

Personally. FFVIII is more like this;
- Future Fantasy/Man against evil witch (the whole story revolved around witches and their rise to power).

Spatula, it's just an E3 trailer. It's pretty obvious that she'll be accompanied by other characters as well. Because no FF game had a solo only character. And Inhert, it's possible. Anything can happen during the development stages of FFXIII and FF Versus XIII .

Square Enix usually has a knack of suprising gamers.

So, does this mean that we'll see like an animation of glass breaking then we're suddenly swept into battle. Or that you freely get to choose the enemies you fight like in FFXII?

You missed that statement Kairi, they said "it will be playable BY next year's E3. Meaning that it will be playable prior to E3 '07. Like how FFXII was given a demo treatment at some of the PS2 kiosks in the mall.

Certainly not in the Information bar where they display the current attack information. Or the attack bars where they display what is being used (V-Strike, Fire etc...).

The only place that they seem to put the name is to the left of the ATB Cost Meter and to the right of the command list.

lol, I agree as well. I mean, you'd think by now they would've rolled with actual gameplay footage. Though, from the looks of it. It does seem to be actual game footage. Coupled with movie scenes.

And from what I get, she probably activated Overclocked status. Which the action slows down and that she's picking off several soldiers with her gunblade.

As for the main game. I was right. Her mistress is named; Lightning (romanji; Rightuningu)

Well, Nomura did say that this production was gonna be more darker. Than his Kingdom Hearts works. Which centered on a lighter theme. And that he reflected on today's war. Which Versus XIII came about.

Jokes aside. Here's more news reported from the Jump Festa Convention which occured this weekend. Thanks to finalfantasy-xiii.net's Dante. Here's the trailer impressions.

XIII

- Trailer features a new song
- The train scene from the E3 2006 and Cloud DVD is extended
- The camera turns to the blond man and the trailer is viewing him as summoning Shiva
- The pigtailed girl from the TGS 2007 trailer is also seen in this trailer. She has green eyes
- Cocoon is possibly 13 centuries old or was maybe built in the 13th century, the translation is unclear.
- Another woman appears in the trailer who is described as not looking human. She uses a harp and the descriptions sounds like she could be another summon, possibly Siren.
- After the Final Fantasy XIII logo appears, an "Only for Playstation 3" message is displayed

Versus XIII
The Radio conversation in The Prince's car (cut from the CLOUD DVD trailer) speaks of an ending cold war.
The Prince sees the "Skirt Girl". [See characters page]
"Large" men in black suits are sat around a long table in a "Silver Cathedral" discussing the cold war/current events. (?)
The "Staircase" fight scene from previous trailers is shown. When The Prince walks back inside (At the end of the CLOUD DVD Trailer) he is "ambushed" by the White Cloaked man.
The city changes to daytime in which it seems more medieval (?)
The "Skirt Girl", who seems to be the heroine, is seen having a conversation with The Shotgun Guy while walking down the street.
After their brief conversation the two new characters appear. One of them is rather large (Kanae refers his size to "Mr. 33cm" from Final Fantasy XIII) and another who is dressed much like one of the Turks from Final Fantasy VII.
The Shotgun Guy laughs mockingly at them. (?)
The Prince's car is shown driving through the "wilderness"? Perhaps the baron desert area Nomura has spoken of.

All the characters appear to be in the car with The Prince.
A continuation of the "White Robed Man" confrontation scene.
The long table discussion scene is also continued to show another man entering, causing everyone in the room to look over and stop talking (?)
The scene of The Prince fighting the soldiers is continued.
A building is destroyed (?) reminds Kanae of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
A scene between the Skirt Girl and The Prince is shown. Kanae is not sure if they behave like best friends or lovers.
Blue and Red symbols appear behind The Prince and the Skirt Girl respectively.
They look angry at each other, the Skirt Girl unsheathes a sword, the camera pans to her face to show her purple eyes and the Final Fantasy Versus XIII logo is shown, along with a Shakespeare quote shortly after.

True he may look like Seifer. But his attitude is not Seifer's. Because in the trailer he shows more of a "happy-go-lucky" attitude and that he seems to not take things seriously at times.

I dunno. You guys may be right. But from my POV, the new blonde male in XIII doesn't seem to be a bad guy. Well, Wikipedia gave him off as a "happy-go-lucky" character which he had this funny way of attacking his enemies.

Like we may have another "Cloud" in XIII in the form of the new guy. As compared to having another "Seifer".

And about you guys saying that I knew within those final 2 seconds. When I've seen the KH: Birth by Sleep. I was already betting that he [the sorcerer in the trailer] would probably be the game's antagonist

Well, it's thanks to also PS3's Blue Ray "High End" graphics. Which stuff like this can't be performed on the PS2, 360 muchless the Wii.

True that Blue Ray isn't the main factor. As it's mostly due to Square Enix's exclusive White Engine that's on the PS3 that makes this photo-realistic HD graphics.

Personally though, I think these games are shaping up to be more better than Lost Odyssey. Dispite only having seen a few trailers.
