My first pet was a gerbil with a tendency to stuff whole baby carrots into his mouth and leave them there for days, nibbling every once in a while. I'm pretty sure that's how he died, but I don't really remember. I was pretty young. Then we got my cat Shadow when I was about 7 I think. He stuck around for 12 years, disappeared sometime last year, we figured he'd probably died and gone to kitty heaven. It was difficult for him to survive even aside from his old age - he literally had NO teeth. But he was a great cat.
I've had numerous other pets die from being hit by a car, including one particularly gruesome scene involving one of my small cats that made all my siblings cry... but i won't describe it
