Easily my favorite TRPG series, now. I played OG1 three and a half times (two on emulator, one and a half on cartridge) and am on my third playthrough of OG2 (EX Hard mode, this time).
I don't know about this 100 hours buisiness, though. I probably spent over 100 hours on OG1, sure, but I played it many times. I probably haven't played OG2 for 100 hours yet, though.
I think the most fun part of the games is customizing the characters and mechs, actually. Gameplay's still really good, but it's all about twinking your characters and mechs to completely destroy the enemy. Also, the music's well done. Each character or mech gets their own theme that plays when they attack or get attacked by an enemy. Beats hearing the same music through an hour battle. Optional challenge with battle masteries is welcome, as well.
Biggest flaw I saw in the game was the lack of item sort. Made it much harder to figure out how you want to twink your characters because some of the good stuff could be on page 5 of 10, right in the middle, so you'd have to look through everything. Very annoying, but I don't think it detracts too much from the game. Afterall, I consider OG2 in my top 3 favorites, with OG1 not too far behind.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
