Yeah, that bracket makes no sense at all. Why aren't all the bye people facing each other? Byes are supposed to be used when there's an odd number of people only.
Also, are each of these best of 3? Otherwise I'm not sure how double elimination is supposed to work.
Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Or Chaotic could just redo the brackets and give 1 random person a bye to even things up so that the tournament is actually fair to everyone. This is a pretty large problem that's easy to fix.
There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
Slash, you're not understanding this at all. I'm not even sure to begin with all that's wrong in your post, because honestly it's stupid. How can you not see that 1/3 of the players getting to skip a round is bad for the majority when it's as simple as:
Why are the only two people complaining about it ones without a bye? That's most of the people participating right there, and there haven't been many posts in the thread yet. Odds are someone saying something won't have a bye, so don't go trying to imply we're whining out of jealousy. I'm not saying I'm going to quit or anything, but especially now that there's a prize involved I care that there's an even playing field. You're making it sound like a simple bracket restructuring would be the end of the world. Even if Chaotic's right and this bracket is theoretically fair in the end, there just isn't a need for all these byes. On the plus side, Chaotic's program did do a neat job with the bracket presentation. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
Yeah (to Nutty), after reading Chaotic's post about how the double elimination will work it seems to require something complicated. To be honest, I don't really understand it at all, but it makes a strange kind of sense. I still distrust such a large number of byes, but if it's necessary to pull off double elimination then so be it I suppose.
I'll crush all comers anyway, so it doesn't matter. Spoiler:

I don't fear the Landmasters. I fear IC's ungodly ability to win no matter what the odds are more than any puny smash attack.

Also, I wasn't going to say anything since I was a bit tired of arguing, but I think the final match should be best of three. It would suck for either side to lose the whole tournament on a one match fluke after fighting all the way there, and I'd rather there be a definitive winner. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
I thought the whole purpose of the 1v1 tournament was that it'd be simpler than the other one, but I don't understand a bit of this, including why there's a need for so many byes.
Anyway, I'm up for a match anytime except tonight simply because it is a bit late now. I was busy with Bioshock when you posted earlier, Kai. I'm on AIM pretty much any time that I'm home, so catch me on there. FELIPE NO ![]() |
Curses, Kairyu has defeated me! Alas, I had no landmasters handy to frighten him into submission. Great matches, him winning 2-1.
I suppose I'll have to conquer the losers' bracket now to ensure my victory. I've got a better idea of what characters work with online delay now. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
Yeah, Kairyu just realized that too. FINAL BATTLE TIME.
EDIT: After a truly EPIC match, Kairyu still wins 3-1. After 8 minutes on Hyrule Temple we were both on our last lives, still hung on for awhile in sudden death, and then we both exploded on the same bo-bomb. I died about half a second too soon. Most amazing jew boots ![]()

Come now, Lukage. Channel that rage towards your upcoming battle against me!

Catch me on AIM in case I forget. I was already thinking we were doing it that night after I get home from work, but I'll be home with AIM on all afternoon.

Announcing my victory over Lukage 3-0! Looks like I'll be seeing you soon, Basil.
First match: Marth (me) vs. Kirby (Lukage) Stage: Final Destination Pretty even match decided by items. We each had a soccer ball KO and I killed him with the Dragoon not 10 seconds after he'd respawned. Didn't even think I hit him, but apparently I did. Second match: Zelda (me) vs. Ganondorf (Lukage) Stage: Final Destination Ganon was a bit too slow of a character, though his Smash certainly hurts like hell. So does Zelda's, though. =D Third match: Ness (me) vs. Peach (Lukage) Stage: Bridge of Eldin His Peach was pretty evil with all the damage reflecting, and he did a great job evading me for most of the battle. He got something like 3 Smash balls too, though I don't think I died from any of them. He dodged every one of Ness' Smash lightnings too, so it was very much a battle of ineffective balls. Lukage dominated mostly, but it evened out at the end and I barely won. Good fights overall, though like I said, the first one was all about the items. Yeah, but it also puts every enemy to sleep. Prime smash attack opportunities, and I know you had at least two.

Oh crap, here I was already counting on Nexius to be my next opponent after Basil. I didn't expect to meet Ihopz so soon.

Alas, I am undone! Basil gave me a sound thrashing, 3-1. I would type up a more detailed description of them, but there's a cat in my chair and I can't stay in this position much longer.
Needless to say, I gave an incredibly terrible performance as Mario vs. Yoshi. Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
I'm getting on Brawl now, if you're still around for some matches.

Hurray, first match I was going to lose tonight and someone's connection exploded! Thank you, Nintendo, for such a quality online service that predicts when it can save me from the agony of losing.
Connections seem pretty sketchy tonight, but at least we're not moving at 2fps. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
Yeah, I hate fighting against Yoshi. It was lucky for me when they nerfed him in Melee, but now he's got his power back. Those were some great matches though, especially the Marth vs. Pit at the end. That Bo-bomb I got was so lucky.

Hurray, I actually managed to beat IC!
...Once. Still, more than I expected. Our last match as Ness vs. ROB was so back and forth, with some stage effect or item keeping us even the whole time. Damn you for pulling out Yoshi at one point, too. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
Miles has turned this into a battle of endurance so he doesn't have to give anyone else Wii Points.

Congrats, Icy! I had a sneaking suspicion you'd be the victor from the start. Makes me feel better about all the times I've lost miserably to you.
