I picked up Defend the Castle and LostWinds, and so far I've been enjoying both. DtC took forever to build up to the meat of the game, but maybe it's faster on Heroic difficulty. If they wanted to make sure you'd have enough money for a fully upgraded castle before things get hectic they should've made things cheaper and added more upgrades. The lack of stuff to build past the initial towers is a letdown, but at least the daytime battles are enough fun to warrant $5. As for LostWinds, it's enjoyable and didn't take long to get the hang of the wind jumping. My only problem so far was when the game glitched right after acquiring the Slipstream ability and the guy would neither hop nor be affected by the wind in any way. Thankfully it autosaves whenever you get a power, so I lost maybe 30 seconds by quitting. Even if it's short, I've payed $10 for less. Crystal Chronicles would be tempting if it wasn't so expensive. I might as well just buy the DS game and not worry about it being a constant expense. Not to mention I already had to delete the Internet Channel to make room for these. Where is my external HDD, Nintendo? Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]()

There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
I haven't bought it yet, but I plan to. The more I thought about it, I figured I'd wait and see how many GFF people bought it first since $10 is a bit much for Dr. Mario unless there are actually people to play the online mode with.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
For those who haven't heard, WiiWare is finally getting something definitively awesome. Yes, Mega Man 9 is here and with 100% less girly voice. Not only is it nice and nostalgic in appearance, but it's being done by a team made up of the devs behind Mega Man X1-3, Mega Man Zero, and Mega Man ZX. In other words, the good post-NES MM platformers.
Spoiler:
All 10 Nintendo Power scans can be found here. Plug Man's power will likely make this the Wii's first AO rated game. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
I think the page with the scans is being bombarded by traffic from the IGN article right now. It went down for about 15 minutes when I first tried to make this post, which is why I linked IGN too.
I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
So much for the achievement points, but I probably would've bought it for WiiWare anyway. Using the sideways wiimote will add to that lovely classic feel.
