Man, it's going to be torture waiting until after Christmas to get a Wii. I really doubt I can gather the money before then, but it's really nice to see Nintendo packaging Wii Sports with the console. It'll be difficult choosing which launch title to get first too, but it'll most likely be Zelda: Twilight Princess. Trauma Center is tempting since it could become rare like its DS predecessor, but I'll probably hold off on it.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I haven't heard of anything, but I can dream. Toys 'R' Us' American site doesn't have anything like that listed either.

Wait, would that entail playing .avi files with the Wii? I wasn't planning on buying an SD card, but if I could watch downloaded anime through my Wii with that then this just got even better.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Ooh, RE Wii sounds pretty awesome so far. I never really played much of the Resident Evil series before RE4 because I couldn't stand the controls and a few other aspects, but I loved RE4 (who didn't?). Segments from all four games compiled together with RE4 style controls sounds great to me.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

You're still getting to play it on you're TV which will bring back the nostalgia for those who played them so many years ago.
IGN had an article up a week or two ago suggesting that Earthbound was highly likely to be on the VC.

Why would that be? I can think of several NES games I'd like to download if I get some extra cash now and then, but my SNES still works just fine and has most games I want for it anyway. $5 really doesn't sound that bad since it saves the trouble of tracking down the cartridge, and some of the rarer games cost more than that used anyway.

a while back all you poepl said was taht if they didn't have Wii sprots with the Wii it would be
the dumbest thing because nowon would bight it except a few people.
Though now that they do have it your all complaing because the game is not worth 40.oo dallars.
But it is, if you think about it Wii sports is basicly the same thing as super monkeyball (the first one)
whitch was sold for 50.00 bucks. Now i have heard people (like you) saying that for 50 dallars more you could get a 360. Ok you could but that is for the lower vertion of it (witch does not incluse a 120.00 hard drive and a wired controller) and a few other thing but the 360 doesn't have a game does it also mose of there games are 60-75 bucks while the Wii will never go over 60.00
so realy for what they put out they have to price it at.

I've always used AV as well, and it really doesn't look bad at all to me. I bought an S-Video cable for something else recently, so maybe I'll hook up my PS2 with it later just out of curiousity. I doubt it'll make enough of a difference for me to care though.

Just to point out, the rather large difference between this and the PS3 not coming with an HDMI cable is that HD is a huge part of PS3's upgrade. It's meant to be played in HD, so it's silly for it not to include the cable to allow that. The Wii is simply coming with the AV cables that consoles usually include, which is fine by me.

I don't have faith in Gamestop/EB distributing enough systems to each store though. I'll be getting mine from Best Buy if I can help it, like I do all my consoles. I love their replacement plan since you can bring your system back within 2 years for even the smallest problem and you get a replacement with almost no questions asked.

Um, I use composite AV cables and Atelier Iris doesn't look anything like that on my TV. It looks pretty much exactly like the S-Video screen you showed. If composite was really that bad I doubt anyone could stomach playing it.

My TV is roughly a 20" CRT and I've played on a 24" CRT too without seeing any blur. My AV cables are also all hooked up to the TV through a switchbox. I've never played through a computer monitor, so I guess the type of cables must have a much more prominent effect there.

One other question, I've heard that the Rayman for the Wii is just a collection of mini games put in a linear order to make a game. Is this true, or is it still a platformer with a mini game here and there?

*This post has not been spell checked*
You know, you could just not spend as much money at the Sony launch. Just because it comes first by 2 days doesn't mean you have to spend more on it.

I have the same question about Rayman though. It looks awesome, but if it's just a collection of mini-games...

EB's site lists it as Rayman 4 for the 360, but it has no actual description and the cover logo is the same as the Wii except white instead of black. Their Wii description made it sound like a platformer too, but oh well.

It's that lame G4 skit between a PS3 woman and a Wii woman that was posted a few pages back. I think it's from Attack of the Show or something.

I'm still hoping to see Super Metroid, Little Nemo in Slumberland, and Darkwing Duck on those lists sometime soon. I can't wait to overdose giant snails on candy and shoot pellet guns at electrically charged rats!

Wow, a few of those people on the cover of Trauma Center would fit right into Persona 3, especially Angie. Since Atlus owns them both maybe there'll be some extremely bizarre crossovers!

"Doctor, his body is covered with severe lacerations and his soul appears to be missing!"
"I've got no choice then... I'll have to use the Jack Frost Touch!"

I'm holding onto my Gamecube since I use the Gameboy Player quite a bit. I recently acquired copies of Metroid II and Castlevania Adventure II too, so without the GB Player I'd have no way to play them. Who knows, maybe I'll move my GC to the TV in my bedroom with the other unloved systems and bring the Dreamcast back onto the main TV.

How ya doing, buddy?

I watched a Nintendo rep. assembling the Wii display at my local Best Buy on Wednesday, and I just couldn't help but be a little giddy at the sight of an actual Wii after all these months of seeing pictures. Apparently BB displays, or at least that one, will only be playing videos rather than allow for actual gameplay. I would have lingered around and asked more questions, but I didn't want to be a nuisance. The poor tech was already getting irritated by morons like the guys who walked by and tried to buy the display Wii for $500.

I'm considering going back on Saturday to possibly trade in my DS for a DS Lite since I've been having some issues with it, so hopefully I'll get to check out the completed display.

You could hire migrant workers to drive around searching for a Wii. That's likely an easy solution depending on where you live.

Make sure your Wal-Mart will be open at midnight too. Mine is closing and opening at the usual times, so the people standing outside will feel pretty silly around 2-3am when they realize they've still got several more hours to go.

The warranties on Nintendo systems are generally 1 year and you have to mail it back to Nintendo. Best Buy's product replacement plans last for 2 years and you just have to bring it up to their Returns counter and get a new one.

I usually buy one for every console, but I'm not really worried about the Wii. I rarely have any trouble with my Nintendo consoles breaking down, so there probably won't be any issues.

You should post your friend codes in the poor, neglected Friend Codes Thread.

I'm more excited than ever about the Wii after hearing how it doesn't disappoint. It sucks that I won't get mine until Christmas, but at least I'll be able to hijack my brother's some this week while I'm there for Thanksgiving.
