There are four Golden Axe games on the Ultimate Genesis Collection, so they have a lot to go through. Golden Axe 1-3 and the Zelda clone at the least.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Damn, I was hoping Fighting Street was a predecessor to Streets of RAGE.

I still don't see Earthbound on Virtual Console. I don't understand what Nintendo's major malfunction is. Why is this game not available?
Didn't Nintendo finally say that they're never going to release Earthbound in the US because of some copyright issue dealing with several of the music tracks? Something about them using snippets of other songs. That was the story I heard ages ago. I'm sure there are plenty of stories floating around, though.

I tracked down where I read about that before, so here's the page on Starmen.net. Important section quoted for importance.

They were demanding changes to the game, and while we can't say specifics, it's safe to assume they were uncomfortable with the game's constant pop culture references. EarthBound's soundtrack, in particular, references/samples/mimics every band under the sun, and hearing that a game is constantly referencing bands like The Beatles is enough to make any IP lawyer wring his hands.

You might be thinking, "sampling/references aren't enough to bring a lawsuit", and you'd be right. But it's also true that not everything in EarthBound is simply sampled/referenced, and even if the game was technically legal, that doesn't mean lawyers will be comfortable with it. They get paid to avoid lawsuits entirely, not to get sued and then say "here's why this lawsuit is stupid".

This wouldn't normally be an issue (lots of changes have been made to other VC releases), but there was one major problem: NCL wasn't playing ball. For reasons we can only guess, the head honchos back in Japan were refusing to let NoA modify the game prior to release. Was it too expensive? Did they disagree with the NoA lawyers' assessment? Were they just being stubborn? Was Itoi involved somehow? None of our sources were able to tell us what transpired.

Nintendo is finally giving us demos? Amazing! I've been wanting to try one of the Bit.Trip games before buying, since I'm afraid that I'll suck horribly and give up after a day.

Still not planning on buying any points or updating my Wii until Christmas, though. I'm afraid Nintendo might do another patch closer to the holidays, and I'd rather do this risky updating as few times as possible.

That picture makes me laugh every time. I love how Mega Man is shooting a robot in the face without even looking and Protoman has become the Shredder.

It's not anything even resembling an official announcement, but Nintendo Power's website is implying that Cave Story will hit WiiWare sometime in the few weeks remaining of 2009. Their awards nominations for voting GOTY and best WiiWare GOTY both list Cave Story. Again, barely more than rumor-worthy, but it's odd.

You're better off just buying a copy of Melee, really. The first Smash Bros. was great in its time, but Melee took everything it did and made it better without removing anything that I remember other than stages.

Yeah, they nerfed the crap out of Ness after the first one too. He got some of his power back in Brawl, but he was nowhere near as good in Melee.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

You've got it backwards. Like I said, Ness started off powerful and they made his attacks much weaker in Melee.

Seems that way. Castlevania is something of a consolation, though.

I'm going to assume they just remade the first Phoenix Wright for WiiWare, and we're not actually getting anything amazing. Chronos Twins looks interesting, but I see the DS release back in 2007 didn't get stellar reviews.

So it's not just a port, but an incomplete port. Oh Nintendo, how you like to taunt us.

I've never gotten around to playing the original Blaster Master, but this looks pretty cool. I'm only saddened by the apparent lack of Alex's frog.

Oh hell yes. Anyone who's never played Ogre Battle 64 should buy it immediately. I played it into the ground, and I'd still buy it again if I didn't still have my cartridge and March of the Black Queen to play on VC.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

How is it as far as buffering? Back when I first started watching it on the 360 if your connection slowed it would stop the whole movie and re-buffer, but thankfully they fixed that.

I got the Wii disk since it was free and I just had to click a button to have it sent without filling out anything, but I wasn't sure how well it would do with the Wii's internet connection.

Hey, finally a decent VC game. I'd actually think about buying Mario Tennis if Nintendo hadn't temporarily blocked me from using the Shop channel with update 4.3. The N64 game was always my favorite in the series.

I read that as Adventure Island for a second there, and I was hopeful. Then, just like every week, my hopes were dashed.

Is anyone actually buying any of these WiiWare games? As far as I know nothing good has come out since the last Bit.Trip game many months ago.
