Legendary photography thread

I have had a digital camera for a very long while now, but I never really started using it until about 2 weeks ago.
Photography has always interested me, so I went around town trying to take some pictures of things that really cought my eye. After looking at peoples photography topics here, it inspired me to put some of my shots here.

Now, I don't know anything about photography or how to get amazing shots or anything like that. If any of you can give me advice that could possibly help me become a better photographer I would appreciate it very much.

Purple Flowers
Park Water

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I really need to look into and learn more about my camera. I haven't done anything much with digital cameras as I was usually using disposable for everything, and I regret that now.

Thanks for the bits of advice, I don't/didn't know any rules, just shot pictures that I thought looked different than what I normally see people take around here.

I would be greatful if you were to post something from a magazing for information. Any information I can get will be very helpful.

I will post the pictures I like now, and when I go shooting again I will take your guys advice and see if you guys think I am doing a little better. Here are a few more pictures

Boyfriend and Girlfriend
White Flowers
Beach Sunset

I also want to ask- When is the best time to use a black/white picture? I used it in the graveyard pictures because I figures lack of color would represent that there was no life there. What are some better situations so I don't go overboard with a ton of ridiculous black and white?

This is the camera I am using

It's something that you can buy for 150 dollars at typical store, it's nothing special at all, but it's better than what I usually have.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Do you have a camera rental store to rent an SLR from? If not, you could be a prick like me and buy a camera from a retail store and return it in two weeks. ;(
There isn't a camera rental store anywhere around here that I know of. If I were to get a different better quality camera though, I would probably end up buying it rather than having to return it.

B&W - It's up to you whether or not you shoot black and white. It draws a very different mood versus color. I consider myself very conservative when it comes to this. I don't like converting color photographs to black and white because it's technically a "fake." I'll set my camera to B&W mode if I want to shoot like that. But, like I said, it's your photo.
The only way I can take B&W photo's is through the camera options. I don't have anything like photoshop on my computer to touch up any of the images I have, although it would be very fun to mess with.
Usually I give my photo's to people and have them add my ideas using photoshop. For example This picture I wanted to poke fun at a friend for always being sad and depressed, so I had someone else do the editing.

~Thanks for posting the link, I have downloaded the document and I will soon check it out when I have more time.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Wow, I have been gone from this thread for awhile. Went through a breakup and all that crappy stuff, but now I am back with many more pictures.

Someone even offered to buy some pictures or have me take pictures of them in an interesting setting, so I guess I am doing okay with my photography.

Here are some more for your viewing
Cold Grave Watcher
Grave Angel
Female Jesus
Flower near cliff
Funky ole me
Reflections

Enjoy what I have I suppose, I try to pull something interesting out every once in awhile.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

It's been a few months since I put anything in this topic. My small camera broke and right now I am looking for a new once, and so far I have been recommended a Kodak EasyShare Z710 7.1MP . Also, I will scroll back up and see what you guys recommended before. I can buy any in the 300/500 dollar range, that is my budget for a camera at the moment in time.

Here are some new pictures, I haven't done many in awhile, but some of these turned out pretty well.

Well, I am back with more photography. Since September I have bought myself a newer Cannon Model Camera, which is really nice. I still need to buy a bunch more lenses to fit what I love taking pictures of.

For now, I'll post a few simple ones that I've taken and messed around with. Enjoy

Canon XTI EOS, it was a good 600/700 dollars, I don't remember which. HUGE improvement over what I had, that's for sure.

I took these pictures today- I had just found out my friend smoked, so I decided instead of saying "hey man, I hope it doesn't become an addiction for you" to "Hey, get your cigs, we're going to a broken down train station for a picture". I didn't really have a 'set' picture in mind that I normally would, I just shot at random, this is what I got

- For that last blurry one, I am saving that place for a picture of myself. I got the idea I wanted to take a GTA inspired picture. I'm so glad that whole place is a broken down mess.

Dude, what I do isn't anything special. All it is, at least for me, is random ideas that you guys and my personal friends seem to like. I'm nothing special when it comes to someone special with a lens. I need to learn a lot more before I actually do some 'Pictures are worth 1000' words.

Here are a few of my friends, so enjoy these random pictures.
